Raghu ji,

A quick answer would be 10th for profession and 2nd for vidya or

knowledge. Immediately the question arises, what about 4th, 5th and

9th? Again, this needs to be explored a bit more by each person-

jyotishi, but literature (old and new and too many to quote

specifically -- a little personal study would be required!) and the

scribes of those indicate that the 4th indicates basic education and

the 9th indicates higher education.

The fifth indicates more the intellect, the capacity to concentrate

and remember etc. The 2nd then represents vidya, which is different

from education (4 and 9). Vidya is what one has learned and the

quality of it and the skills and abilities (these are the wealth,

dhana of the mind aspect of lagna. Lagna does not just indicate body

but also the mind. For a finer look, and I hope I am quoting

Narasimha rightly, one must look at the amsha chart for education,

namely the chaturvimshamsha.

The tenth is more for the profession, which may be an extension of

the education and knowledge (lucky dog!) or may have nothing to do

with one's desires or education (the aspiring actor who works as a

security guard to make ends meet).

Armed with these pieces of information, you need to take a few known

charts (don't go into cold readings right away!) and the best would

be some politicians many of whom get education as lawyers. See if it

works in their or some other charts that you know of. Work up from

there and at each step, treat all such pieces of information, even

those allegedly coming out of the mouths of maharshis and you would

have a better handle on this canoe called jyotish as you ride it on

the white-water rapids known as the unpredictable human experience!

And remember, this is just the beginning, one cannot expound this

comprehensively through this limited medium.

Dear Raghu,

9th house is the prarabdh which is the sum total of the karmas of all the

janmas taken together.

The 2nd house is the house of acquisitions and thus the 10th house indicates

what comes out of such a prarabdha, forming the dictate of karma in this

birth.

Thanks,

Vijay Kumar
