Vajpayee to remain premier - the stars say so

Bhubaneswar, Jan 14 (IANS) Fresh elections may still be some time away, but

astrologers gathered here have already given their verdict: Prime Minister Atal

Bihari Vajpayee is bound to win a second five-year term.

After studying the position of the numerous planets and stars, the future gazers

have also concluded: Congress president Sonia Gandhi can never rule India.

Although he is not keeping perfect health, Vajpayee's horoscope indicates he is

in "a very strong and bright position", leading astrologer Sajaya Rath told

IANS here.

The 42-year-old Rath, who lives in the temple town of Puri, had also predicted

that Vajpayee would lead the Bhratiya Janata Party (BJP) to victory in the 1996

parliamentary polls.

It is another matter that Vajpayee could remain in power for only 13 days -

before storming back to be the prime minister again two years later.

Now, says Rath, the BJP will go on to rule the country for 14 long years.

"I cannot say how many years he will continue as the prime minister but we can

say under his leadership the BJP has a good future."

Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani's horoscope is equally strong, the astrologers say.

A favourable Jupiter is giving power and authority to Advani, and this state of

affairs will continue.

"Better periods are likely to come for Advani from this month," said Rath, a

former Indian Administrative Service officer who left his job as under

secretary in the ministry of defence in 2000 to devote full time to astrology.

Rath is planning to present his findings to about 35 Indian and foreign

astrologers who have gathered in Puri to discuss effects of planets on humans

and other living creatures.

The conference began January 8 and will conclude Wednesday. The event has

attracted astrologers from the US, Britain, South Africa, Canada and Australia

as well.

According to Rath, Sonia Gandhi can never be prime minister because her

horoscope does not indicate she will have "raja yoga".

"Her 'lagna' is 'Makara' (Capricorn) and Sani (Saturn) is in the 8th house," he said.

Raja Yoga and Maharaja Yoga are planetary combinations that catapult people to power.

"We are also making a comparison by examining the horoscope of Akbar, the Mughal

emperor," said Rath.

"Nothing happens in the world on its own. Planets influence all incidents,"

added Srabani Sarkar, president of the Sri Jagannath Centre, which is

organising the meet, and another astrologer.
