Guest guest
True Rohiniranjan ji. That's why we say ....good karmas etc. But I believe, why to think of the next birth and do good karmas. Good karmas should be done with no expectations. We dont know about our other births but at least we should make our THIS birth beautiful by doing good karmas (not for anything else but inner satisfaction). Guest guest
Dear Manoshi, Well said .. the best way is probably just to accept things as they are and do what we must do with faith .... God then will have to lead us the way we should go !! However, I believe that every kind of person existing on this earth is necessary for us to experience different things in different life times to understand that true meaning of love ... Noise, chaos, direction, stigma, orthodoxy etc .. none of them are dispensable .. the idea is to create a balance between them ... Just to highlight, even wanting to live a simple life is a bias and anyone trying to impress otherwise will be meet resistance from the "simple person" which is quite akin to orthodoxy ... somehow I believe as u said ... all these will fall off eventually !! --- khallopapa <khallopapa wrote: > True Rohiniranjan ji. Guest guest
What you say is true and the ideal state. However, the ideal is often something that just remains an idea or in that mental realm! Whether I feed a poor person for selfish reasons (picture in the daily or votes etc) or out of selfless, goalless goodness of my heart, I generate good karma because that person is fed and warm and felt loved for a short time. What I am saying is that sometimes selfish action of charity is better than inaction! People who spend a lot of time intellectualizing and not doing good karma, selfish or not, are simply toying with destiny. Only they will be able to experience that in the long run, unfortunately they will not remember the context of what started it all!! Kaliyuga is about KALI machines, good action, and as long as one keeps moving, only good can come out of it, in the big picture. , "khallopapa" <khallopapa> wrote: > True Rohiniranjan ji. Guest guest
Not sure how much God really interferes or dictates in the individual dramas and experiencing of the drama (maya) of what we think of as our individual souls. It is hypocritical to state that many or any of us can conceptualize the soul as in universal soul! The one and only soul. The war-torture images from Iraq are a good start. What do those bring up in our minds? What if we manage to go beyond the first level of revulsion and in some of us, even if marginally related to the Iraqis' experience or personal identity (victor/victim, unwilling ones) and if we move further away and view it as an expression of 'tit for tat' and then even further away -- our reaction to something that happened before but only by a different perpetrator, someone closer genetically/biologically to the oppressed, the sufferers. Different level of physical/social perception and reality. Once we resolve all this stuff, then we must talk about SOUL! Let alone UNIVERSAL SOUL!! , "jayanshul" <jayanshul> wrote: > -Dear Rohiniji, > Well said all births are interconnected by soul. However god takes > the memory of past lives away so we focus on our present. > There are good books on past and present lives connection by dr > Brian Weiss > regards > nina > > > > > -- In , "rohiniranjan" <rrgb@s...> > wrote: > > Manoshi ji, > > > > What is impossible is impossible is true and often experienced by > > most individuals because they use a limited time frame. Guest guest
"People who spend a lot of time intellectualizing and not doing good karma, selfish or not, are simply toying with destiny. Only they will be able to experience that in the long run, unfortunately they will not remember the context of what started it all!!" I beg your pardon but I think it's your bad luck that you havent come across anyone who really does service selflessly. I know some such people. But of course I agree to it that a person should practice what he/she preaches. To at least try to work towards the ideal is something I guess...Somemone somewhere sparks the light ...right? Guest guest
I have come across such individuals, but not many. And, interpretations vary from one person to another, even when individuals are judging the same person (and of course, it is always the other person who is sadly mistaken in this reality!;-) Anyway, if we look deep enough, there is always a shred of selfishness there. Not that it is by itself bad. The point I was making was that it does not have to be a pure intent or consistently pure intent or even an intent that is universally perceived as pure. Action is what matters. Often, given our narrow, amnesic perspective, we are poor judges of intent anyway. If we engage in action, soul-statistics takes care of itself. , "khallopapa" <khallopapa> wrote: > "People who spend a lot of time intellectualizing and not doing good > karma, selfish or not, are simply toying with destiny. Guest guest
This makes sense and has been put beautifully .. Action indeed should be what counts and even better if the intent itself is in tune with it ... Just to share as I see it thoughts follow feelings feelings follow actions and actions follow thoughts .... I believe the best place to break into this cycle to make it a positive spiral is at the point of action .... --- rohiniranjan <rrgb wrote: > I have come across such individuals, but not many. > And, > interpretations vary from one person to another, > even when > individuals are judging the same person (and of > course, it is always > the other person who is sadly mistaken in this > reality!;-) > > Anyway, if we look deep enough, there is always a > shred of > selfishness there. Guest guest
Most people tend to be linient I believe with thoughts because people cant judge you on them as much as they can on your actions !! ... in some ways both actions and thoughts count .. I do believe thoughts are quite potent forces even when they dont manifest in actions !! The problem is say, we are depressed it's not easy to break the thought chain .. it's easier to forcefully dance (or have a friend try to shake a little) and let the spiral maybe work in your favour ... this really works in your favor (maybe in different degrees)!! If one can manage pure thoughts all the time !! what better asset does he need!! --- rohiniranjan <rrgb wrote: > or should it be thoughts -- where we can make the > most significant > primary breakthrough? The highest meditation is the thought-free state. Many people complain "In my meditation I dont see anything". But why do we want to see anything in meditation? Wouldnt it be easier to watch cars moving on the road or planes flying in the sky? So many things happen in this world. Why dont we watch them if we really want to see something? The highest meditation is the state completely free of thoughts and images. As long as the mind exists, it is constantly brooding. When it stops, when there is no thought and no imagination, that is when a person attains something. There are many sects, many paths, many techniques, but no matter what technique we follow, if the mind remains alive, then it is worldly. It does not matter whether we are following spiritual practices or worldly practices. It does not matter whether we are contemplating Ram or Allah, because whatever the mind can think about remains confined in the mind. Only when the mind becomes free of thoughts, only when it becomes devoid of imagination, only when it loses itself in the Self, do we attain something. We are not different from God, nor is God different from us. We are not far away from God, nor is God far away from us. If we think we are far away from God, that is due to the delusion of our own mind. As our mind contemplates continously, it stops. Pursue whatever is left. That is the ATTAINMENT. For the mind to observe silence is the true "japa", the true mantra repetition.
