In your suns case Mercury is Atmakaraka (very weak old state) and is conjunct Ketu. Though Ketu is in angle conjunct with Lord of 9th (Mer), it is clearly conjunct malefic causing problems. Since Mercury is AK and AK has a significant influence on life, appease to Mercury becomes Prime. Also Jupiter is the worst planet for Libra since it rules two inauspicious houses, the 3rd, and the 6th. Jupiter is aspecting mercury and Ketu through 5th aspect making the mercury further weak. Moreveor Mercury is a little over 3 degrees from the SUN. Please look at all my posts on mercury and appeasement for it. May be I was wrong. I already gave him a emerald for mercury. Any way thanks. Yes and this is a scorpio ASC. Sorry about that. However the planets still maintain their position with the Lagna changing. And that further double confirms for Scorpio ASC. "Mercury becomes a potent malefic since it rules the impressionable 8th house, while simultaneously owning the inauspicious 11th house." So appeasement to MERCURY becomes very prime.
