Dear Surya:

Thank you for your compliment. But, you should have seen me 30 years ago!

hehhe

I have Moon & Saturn in the 12th house in Virgo, in my chart...and I was shy,

prone to much loneliness and even depression.

Thank God, for my good Jupiter in the 6th....cuz....it seemed to lead me.... to the light!

And meditation.... Though I remember it taking about 6 months of practice, or experience

is a better word...and I really started to notice a difference.

Then after 2 years I noticed another huge shift...

And then 5...

then, 10...

and then....well on and on...

Who would have ever guessed that I'd be able to continue for this long?

hehehe

But, the nature of natural, effortless transcending kind of meditation means... it's easy

and has even gotten more and more easy....

Now, I know what it means...to allow the Grace of God.... to take over...

It's just natural, going on anyway....and yet we have a choice, either to get

in-tune with that or...not....

Let's see you asked:

I am not sure if you can talk about transcendental

> meditation .. but I would like to hear the basis and

> process in it??

In Transcendental Meditation, as taught by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, is ...

that meditation should be easy and natural.

He had a great Master and Maharishi himself, says... he thought what with the

Vedas being so full of bliss and Brahman...etc. that it should be easy to

access that...

And he came up with this idea...that instead of resisting and instead of trying to meditate,

or trying to concentrate...maybe...

a better way could be found.

And he came up with this amazing insight into the Nature of the Mind, as well as meditation.

You'll hear it described sometimes....that the mind is a 'monkey mind'....

always bouncing around from here to there. And therefore you need to train

it, to be still...

So, concentration is recommended.

But, Maharishi knew how difficult this was from experience and the history of

yoga so he thought of a different way.

Later he's said, that I realized that it's actually already built in, to the

very nature of the mind..

that effortless transcending can work.

We don't try and meditate because TM is based on the natural tendency of the

mind to move towards more and more.

We're writing and or listening and suddenly from the other room, one of our

favorite songs comes on the radio.

Immediately, the mind shifts and moves towards and starts enjoying that

music...because it's so charming.

This experience shows that it's in the nature of the mind to go for more and more!

We don't have to do anything.

Like that.... we just learn to give the mind an inner direction...

and the whole, entire process of transcending....

deep within...

happens....

because it's inherently more and more blissful...the deeper and deeper you go!

Well, it's one thing to hear that.... and then when it became my experience, wow!

who would have ever thought!

So....good luck with your own progress....and I do look forward to hearing how you're doing

in another 30 years!

The other thing I've done in these years of my path...has been to add the wonderful study

and then insights of Jyotish!

This has made a wonderful supplement...to my consciousness expansion, experience from meditation.

And together.... Jyotish and yoga.... are an unbelievable...combination!!!

Though I quite enjoy the Ayurveda knowledge too.

When I was in India, in 1988, I was attending an Ayurvedic course and my

Maharishi was there and said:

"They must know Jyotish, because Ayurved & Jyotish go hand and hand."

So, coming back to the states, I started my journey into Jyotish...and now 16 years later I'm

so happy to report...even more insights and blessings from this wonderful Vedic science!

take care

Mark,

Thanks for your response.

There is only one solace .. never mind where humanity

stands today ... one day everyone has to reach the

same destination !!

I enjoyed this mail of yours ... Let me digest what

you have said and come back with with some correlation

to my own thougths ..

I think it makes perfect sense .. I mean medicin and

astrology ... I enjoy homeopathy ... and sometimes I

cant help but wonder that using astrology (or simple

numerology or even just palmistry) will lend to

accuracy of diagnosis ... for example a Predominantly

Cancerian tendencies should indicate to look for

mental and emotional effects on the symptoms

(Homeopathy is wonderfully symptomatic :)) and that

would lead you to a totally different line of

medication ...

similarly in ayurveda the different constitutions seem

to correspond to different natures of zodiac

themselves ... it's all one beautiful blend !!!
