Guest guest
Dear Sanyay...and all: Very cool analysis... Sanyay.... It's really fun reading about successful people in terms of Jyotish. One can not only see concrete examples of how success is gained...but also what planets still remain for those people...and what they could do about those.... I recently was commissioned to do a chart reading...on Drew Barrymore for the Indian Jyotish magazine... express starteller.com It's coming out in their February issue and it too, was exciting to reflect on. In fact I don't think I've ever looked at someone's chart, especially someone whom I'm not actually talking to where I could see so clearly why their life has been the way it has been. It was amazing, really, because her life literally followed to a 't'...each dasa period. When she was born she was born in Jupiter/Venus...and by the time she was 3 and 4 she was appearing in her first movies...and by 5...had stared...in ET...and became an instand success and millionaire... Jupiter in Pisces in her 11th house...and Venus....exalted in Pisces, there in 11th house...as well.... But, what was especially fun to speculate about, was what jyotish-remedies she might have done or should do in the future...to really help her with her life... I'll see if I can find some of the article I wrote...and include it here. I also really enjoyed reading your article her re. Julia... Roberts.... take care Sincerely, Mark Kincaid The primary premise in Astrology is that the configuration of Sun, Stars & Planets in the sky at the exact moment of our births reflects, the quality, nature, characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, and life patterns of any and every soul born on earth. For the famous celebrity, child Star and film actress, Drew Barrymore, this would be an amazing journey. For her, she was born on February 22, 1975. At that time, the Constellation of Taurus was Rising on the east horizon at the exact moment of birth. Many Tauruian Rising individuals have a fairly sensual and warm personality and nature. For Drew, however, her Rising Sign, Lord, Venus would be even exalted in her 11th House of Gain. Also, Jupiter, a very important planet in everyone's life; would also be very strong, also in Pisces in her 11th House, as well. Then, there would was Mars. Mars is Exalted in Capricorn in her chart, and as such, is found in the all-important 9th House in her Astrology chart. Drew's greatest challenges, however, would be 2. In her First and Seventh Houses, she would have Ketu and Rahu. And in her 2nd House, she would have her Saturn and her Moon. For Drew, instant stardom, world recognition, wealth and success were to come at a very early age. In Eastern Astrology, or Jyotish, there is something called Dasa Periods which represents the various time periods of the life. Starting from her birth, Jupiter was the inital Dasa period. If you've ever heard of the expression, "born with a silver spoon in one's mouth', this period was like that for her. Witness her innocent charm and immediate rise to stardom, between the ages of 2 and 5! She appeared in her first movie at 2, and then, quickly, by the age of 5, appeared in two more famous movies; one, Altered States and the other, ET. one of the world's most popular and successful movies of all time, This initial period coincided very nicely with her major Mahadasa period of Jupiter and Venus, sub-period. Most Astrologers would have, at least, predicted something powerful for her, during this time, since Jupiter and Venus are so extremely strong in her chart. Jupiter is also, in it's Own Sign in Pisces, in her 11th House and as such, accomplishments and world recognition, fame and financial success are highlighted! However there was a dark cloud on her horizon. Starting in March of 1983, she was scheduled to go into a minor Rahu period. This period would represent a very trying time for her. This period, then, was to be followed by an equally hard Saturn period, starting in 1985. It was precisely during these times that her difficulties with drugs, authority, mother and emotional problems, began. Who would have guessed that this sweet, young, innocent girl that everyone loved on the screen of ET....would face alcohol at age 9, followed by marijuana at 10, and then cocaine shortly after that. When you look at the status of Rahu and Saturn in her chart, you can't help but be naturally alerted. Saturn & Rahu are often associated with poisons and Saturn's particular influence in the 2nd house of food, meant she had literally this karma of ingesting drugs, or poisons. One other inauspicious part of her chart is the fact that her Moon is in her 2nd house along with Saturn. Moon & Saturn conjunctions are often associated with 'mental' or emotional problems because the Moon is the primary significator of the mind and emotions. This shift into her Saturn period, in 1985, therefore, reflected the worst of her troubled times. She even attempted suicide in July of 1988 which is very indicative of Saturn and the Moon, together. Her Moon and Saturn are also only 6 degrees apart and as such represent even more mental and emotional challenges. Then. a ray of hope started to emerge during the fall of 1988. She entered a sub-period of Mercury and, as Mercury is the Planet of writing and communication accomplishments, she actually wrote an autobiography, called 'Little Girl Lost'. Then, her Dasas went through another shift, moving into a Saturn/Ketu period. It was during this time that she even sued to divorce her mother, at age 15! as well as pose nude for a magazine, shortly after that. Then, in 1992, she entered a Saturn/Venus period, and like the sub-period of Venus at the time of her birth, she miraculously rose to great heights, again. Venus, being exalted in her 11th House, being born into a famous acting family and being extremely beautiful and talented, resulted in many successful movies. Among these were movies like Poison Ivy, 2000 Malibu Road, and the Amy Fisher Story, to name but a few. Others included choice roles in movies, such as Mad Love, Batman Forever and Boys in the Side, and even a highly acclaimed, Woody Allen movie called Everyone Says I Love You. She also starred in such commercially successful movies the The Wedding Singer and then Never Been Kissed, which she also produced. She then entered a Saturn/Rahu period in 1999, and because Rahu is in the House of marriage or partnerships, she not surprisingly got married, during this time. But, because of the nature and placement of Rahu, this marriage only lasted 5 months! Then, she entered a wonderful Saturn/sub-Jupiter period in January of 2002 and again, these last couple of years have been very wonderful for her. For Drew, the next few years should look like reasonably like this: Starting in 2004, she goes out of her major Saturn period into a Mercury one. This will be the beginning of a long, more healthy writing and creative period. Though because of the strong un-checked malefic situations in her chart, unless she takes more remedial measures, she will continue in her ups and downs. Initially, from 2004 to 2007, things will be very bright as she is in a Mercury/Mercury period. Then in 2007, she goes into a minor period of Ketu, where she might face some troubles, especially with strange, un-healthy or imbalanced partners. Then, in 2007, she goes into a Mercury/Venus period and the next 3 years will be quite glorious. Also, from 2010 to 2011, should be very highly acclaimed for her, as she goes into a Sun, sub-period and the Sun is very strongly placed in her 10th House of Career! Then, from 2011 to 2013, she goes into a sub period of Mercury/Moon and as a result might face some serious emotional issues and problems, during this time. Like this Jyotish gives us great indications of a person's human nature, characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. Also, through the unique Dasa 'time periods' system, precise warnings as to the nature and challenges of our futures can be made. However, there is one very important aspect of Jyotish that should also be included. This is the vital aspect of Jyotish Remedial Measures. Even though we've been able to see how Drew's life, is predictable from her chart, still, there is the great possibilitiy of being able to neutralize and even transform the negatives or malefics in our charts through various Jyotish Remedies! For Drew she is facing 2 major malefics situations. There's the Ketu/Rahu combination in her First and 7th Houses. This is hard for anyone as the 'tamasic' qualities of obsessive, addictive desires; desires that are out of tune with one's silence, hold a sway over us. The other major challenge in her life is the Saturn/Moon combination in her 2nd House. For Rahu and Ketu, there are many traditional Jyotish remedies including Meditation, Yaguas, and any number of combinations of gems and behavioral 'rasayanas', or behaviors that will balance mental and phsical patterns. There are even many medicinal treatments of Ayurved that can be very helpful with very dominant and frustrating Rahu and Ketu problems. For Saturn and the Moon, the remedial measures are slightly different. Saturn represents balance and silence in life. When we don't have enough rest, silence or integration we are out of balance, dis-eased, incur disease and even death. For some Saturn has been called the Planet of grief. However, we could just as easily call it the Planet of 'rest'. If we get more rest, learn things like meditation, seek to become more in-tune with the cycles and rhythms of Nature, then there is a great chance that the malefic patterns of a functionally Malefic Planet like Saturn, may be transformed! That is certainly what her life lessons seem to be emphasizing. She probably doesn't like to go to bed at a reasonable time, all her Rahu/Ketu stories of wild nights and partying certainly didn't help her Saturn. But, they say Saturn becomes naturally stronger by the age of 35. As such many lessons of immaturity in our youth, are better understood as we begin our adulthood! For Drew she has an absolutely wonderful chart and life opportunities.. There are so many Benefic Planets, remarkable human qualities and characteristics, that her life could be all glorious. Unfortunately, there are also these two strong malefic situations that make her life fairly schizophrenic. We can only hope that she takes more advantage of her great Benefic talents, and discovers, somehow, the desire and knowledge how to change those parts of her that are causing her her greatest challenges!
