You seem to have done quite an extensive research on Mercury and the way it manifests results in combination with other planets. I have Mercury Mahadasha coming by the end of this year. And I just don’t know what to expect from it. While some of the astrologers have told me that it is going to be far better than my Saturn Mahadasha, others have told me that since it is combusted, it won’t give me any results at all. Another section of astrologers tell me that it may be combusted but since Sun is benefic for you and quite powerful in your chart, Mercury Mahadasha would be good for you. I just don’t know what to believe. But one thing is certain: I am heavily hinging my hopes on Mercury. It is my earnest request to please have a look at it from Mercury Mahadasha point of view and tell me what is in store for me. Your chart has been drawn up and can be found at the end of this mail. It shows a Taurus ascendant with the Most Effective Point (MEP) as 18:49. The planets Moon, Sun, Mercury and Saturn are benefics and the planets Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Rahu and Ketu are malefics. Jupiter is the Most Malefic Planet (MMP). Career problems are due to the close affliction of malefic Ketu to Saturn, which is the prime significator of profession in your case. The nature of Ketu makes you dissatisfied with what profession or status you have. Saturn is a benefic in your case, but is slow and eccentric by nature. So, you would tend to get benefits only after a lot of hard work. You should also be happy with the work you are doing and try your best not to be extra ambitious. The reason I say this is that there are planets in the first house whose nature is to make you ambitious. And two of these planets, Rahu and Mars, are malefic in nature. They could tend to make you do things that somewhat beyond your natural capabilities. Rahu makes you think big and want big things. Mars gives you a good ability to execute tasks. But, Rahu makes you think bigger than necessary and Mars impels you to execute things at any cost. The Sun is another planet that makes a person ambitious. This planet is a benefic for you. It has also got good strength. A strong Sun would give clarity of thought, and good administrative and planning capabilities. Being the lord of the 4th house, it would help you to build strong relationships with others. Take advantage of these features of the Sun. The other strong planet Mercury gives good analytical abilities and intelligence. Try to get involved in work that brings out your analytical strengths rather than just reporting data. The planet Moon is another benefic in your case, but is weakened due to bad placement in the 6th house. Success from your own efforts is reduced due to this weakness. You may also get unnecessarily drawn into arguments or may have a caustic style of communication. The weakness of the Moon also makes you restless and difficult to satisfy. The planet Venus is the prime significator of health in your case. It is badly placed in the 12th house. This weakens your health to some extent. The planet Jupiter is the MMP. Its malefic effect is the highest among the malefics. Jupiter is well placed in the 2nd house, away from the MEP. But, it is slightly weak. Jupiter gives you sudden changes in status, profession and wealth. These could be sometimes to your advantage, but, many times also to your disadvantage due to its malefic nature. The current planetary sub-period is that of malefic Jupiter, which is not auspicious in general. It has also been close to the MEP of the 3rd, 7th, 9th and 11th houses for some time now. Saturn is also under the malefic influence of natal Jupiter in the 2nd house. Have patience for a few more weeks any you would get some respite. Things should improve once the main planetary period of Mercury starts at the end of Sep 2004. You must propitiate to Ketu at least to lessen its malefic impact. This could be done by feeding stray dogs with any food on a daily basis. If it is difficult for you to do that, then you could offer regular donations to any spiritual institution. You must strengthen Saturn to improve your career. This can be done by wearing a 4.7 carat blue sapphire encased in a gold ring on the left middle finger. The Moon also needs strengthening by wearing a 4.7 carat pearl encased in a silver ring on the left little finger. You may choose to wear a Kavach, which is an auspicious amulet. The Kavach can be procured from Prof. V.K. Choudhry, who can be contacted at siha (AT) vsnl (DOT) com. The Kavach would strengthen all planets. In such a case, there would not be a need to wear the pearl for the Moon, but it is advised that you wear the blue sapphire for Saturn. Respected List Members, I am not sure as to whether it is appropriate to seek help from the list about personal problems. However, the sheer desperation has compelled me to write directly to the list about my problem. If it is inappropriate for the members of the group to post help request, then please accept my sincere apologies and ignore this mail. But if the list members think they can help on my problem, then please help me. Just to give you my brief background, I immigrated to Canada about three years before (May 24, 2000 I landed in Canada). Back in India, I was a professional journalist and have worked with some leading publications of India, including The Times of India (Pune Edition). To cut the long story short, I have faced many calamaties in life, particularly in terms of career. When I was in my early twenties, I was almost on the verge of becoming a commercial pilot. However, I couldn't make it because of some health problems. I had worked very hard in journalsim and had made a name for myself in Indian journalism. But when I was about to enjoy the fruits of my hard work, I immigrated to Canada. I haven't been able to find a foothold in journalism in Canada and have been doing odd jobs here. I also got married very late. My marriage date is May 5, 2000. My education was also disrupted when I was B.Sc-II.
