Dear esteemed members,

Our JR forum seems to have some less activities and discussions so I would like

to write something on the 6th house and hope some might find it interesting to

read. This is something "REAL JYOTISH" and is different from what bogus ideas

are passed through as the name of Jyotish.

The 6th house is one of thouse dusthanas or triks those cause the major

problems, griefs and mishaps in our lives. However, a good 6th house is very

much needed to get some positive things in life such as defeating the enemy,

winning competition or debates, suffering from less deseases in life etc.

The most basic confusions beginnner students get confused with are, "Will an

exalted 6th lord be good or bad in respect of diseases?" and, "If I want to

defeat my enemies, should I have a strong or weak 6th lord?" Some people say

that strong 6th lord gives victory over enemies, some just say the opposite, ie

strong 6th lord gives strength to enemy and gives trouble from enemies. None of

them are fully correct, hence I would like to share my views with my own

example in this matter and hope it will be clear to the readers then.

The significations of the 6th house and 6th lord inclue -

Enemies, debates, arguments, competitions, conflicts, court cases, diseases,

health servies, bad tempers, doctors, step mother, elder siblings of mother,

siblings of mother, jobs, services, selfless services to others, infections,

pimples, debts, struggle, hunger etc.

The 6th house and the 6th lord will decide about these significations. But it is

not all. Mere judgement of the 6th house and 6th lord says nothing correct about

these significations.

In order to understand it more clearly we will devide the process into two steps -

1) Judging whoever planet(s) might be involved with the 6th lord, 6th house ie these significations.

2) Judging if the planets figured out from the above logic will be either positive or negative.

For the first step [1] we will have to see the followinf planets-

1. The 6th lord itself.

2. The planets in 6th house

3. The planets joining the 6th lord

4. The planets posited in the stars of the 6th lord

No. 4 is a very important fact and this is my favourite technique to interprete

a chart that I discovered myself from my own studies and researches.

After creating the list of the planets we will see their strength, positions and

afflictions on them to figure out either their result will be positive or

negative in those significations of the 6th house.

Now for a practical example I would like to explain the matter from my own

chart. 24 Dec 1982, 12.30 AM, Dhaka, Bangladesh. 90E25, 23N43, GMT+6.

Here if we list the planets such way -

1. Saturn [6th lord]

2. Moon [Placed in the star of 6th lord/Saturn]

So in the periods of these planets, 6th house significations will 'happen' in my

life and the 'happenings' will be either positive or negative depending upon the

planets involved.

When I passed the AD of Sat I was so young. It will again come in 2006.I passed

Moon AD in 1999-2000 and I will start my story from there.

Moon gets directly involved with 6th house since it is placed in the star of 6th

lord and that IS very important to consider. The whole lot of things Moon did in

it's AD directly relates to all 6th house significations and the only reason is

it is placed in the star of 6th lord. Suspecting the matter from my own chart I

applied this technique in other charts and came up with great success. From then

I always consider the star disposition for this reason and get good results.

Well, Moon is a Paapa Graha [11th lord] for me and it is in temporal enemies

house [Pisces] and it is heavily afflicted by Rahu, Ketu, Sun etc. considering

my favourite sign aspect conept. So whatever authority / subjects it gets into,

it is bound to prove very negative. Since Moon is the mind, all the matters will

make the native [me] mentally sore and depressed, emotionally painful. That is

what an afflicted Moon will feel pleased to do.

Since Moon gets involved with the 6th house [by being in the star of the 6th

lord] and it is in enemy house and afflicted, also a Paapa for me - it will

give all those bad effects of 6th house. Trouble from enemies and struggle

would be one of them.

Now as I say, the AD is the border of PDs and whatever an AD will promiss, will

be materialized in the PDs that support it by own facts. If we understand this

technique timing of events becomes a lot easier.

So, let us try to time the event ["Trouble from enemies"] in the Moon AD. In

what PD it might happen?

1. Saturn - 6th lord.

2. Moon- posited in 6th lord's star.

But as I said, the positive/negative effect will depend on the condition of the

planets. Since 6th lord is exalted, it will not give trouble from enemies in

it's PD. Moon PD might do so - but, Mo PD will be the first PD in the Mo AD, so

in the starting of the AD, there will not be enough time to "make the situation"

in the short time within the first PD. So Mo PD can not do that either, in

general judgement.

So, going a bit deeper, there are other two houses that deals with enemies -

houses 3rd and 8th. 3rd house rules competitions [so enemies] and 8th house

rules battles [a serious form of interaction with an enemy].

Classics say that a natural benefic in the 3rd house will make a man either

peace loving or coward. Similar to this logic, my own research shows that a

natural benefic in 3rd makes the man generally losing in competitions and

battles.

So in my chart, I have a natural benefic [Ju] in my 3rd house that would signify

'losing in battle/competition' and since the AD was of Moon [losing

to/interaction with enemy] the PD of Ju [losing in competition/battle] would be

most suitable for this event, and in practical it did so!

In fact, the PD of Ju was extremely stressful because I was really troubled by

my enemies. It gave me a lot of mental stress and I had no mental peace. [Ju

4th lord-peace.]

So it shows Mo giving problem from enemies in it's AD and that is happening in

the suitable PD of another planet who promiss something similar!

If there was a natural benefic in the 6th, he would be the first to give this

prob in his PD than Ju.

So in Me-Mo-Ju I suffered from enemies, they troubled me a lot and I was totally helpless.

On the other hand it was one of the happiest ever times for relationship because

Ju is the well placed 7th lord in my chart. It shows how a planet can act from

different angles. Being a well placed 7th lord it will give happiness from

relationship so much, on the other hand being a natural benefic in 3rd, it will

signify losing in competitions and battles.

This answers the frequently asked question, "Who is benefic for which lagna...

is it for the rulership or position?" Nothing is absolutely benefic. You will

have to see from different angles. Then the result will come out. I was very

happy with relationship on the other hand very troubled with enemies. So

nothing will be absolute good and both extreme good and extreme bad is

ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE to happen. That IS life.

Now, each PD of Ju will not signify lose in battles. The PD was IN THE AD OF

SOME PLANET WHO ALSO WAS INVOLVED IN THE MATTER. And that is why it happened.

It is like, "Moon will do harm from enemies BUT WILL DO in an appropriate PD."

And the appropriate PD is Ju. So Ju PD will not harm under other ADs that much.

But here BOTH AD+PD were indicating same kind of prob so it happen. Hope it is

clear.

As I said, Ju PD in Mo AD gave so much happiness from relationship. But Ju PD in

Mars AD did not do so. Why? The answer is again same. Mars has nothing to do

with 7th house so under this AD, Ju can not do much. But Mo is in 7th thus

involves with 7th house and being 7th lord Ju PD can do a lot of relationship

related events under Mo AD. It is again the same, "Mo AD wants to do something

about relationship since it is in the 7th, and it did in the appropriate PD of

Ju since Ju is the well placed 7th lord."

Thus we can time events in easier ways.

Well, as I said, the reason for Moon being negative is it is in enemies house

and is afflicted. But my 6th lord Saturn itself is exalted so it will promiss

something good about 6th house [enemies].

So, what happened in the Saturn PD in the Moon AD? It was something positive

about 6th house - I entered a competition of web design and became champion!

Thus I defeated my enemies in a competition - a 6th house event, what happened

in the PD of 6th lord because he is exalted and strong.

The exalted 6th lord will indicate interacting with powerful enemies and this

was true - all other teams were senior than mine! So they were powerful. But

the design concept and java scripts etc I used, made my team victorious.

So, what else we can say about the event? Let us see more closely. It was the AD

of Moon. Moon is the 11th lord of achievement. So I achieved the prize of

champion. Also the news came to newspaper with my photo - so good achievement.

Moon is also in 7th house. 7th house, is the house of joint ventures and

partnership. So it was a partnership - actually one of my cousins and I worked

on the project. So it proves true.

Now, what more we can say about it? Look, Moon's star lord Saturn is in the 2nd

house and he was also the PD lord. As we know, 2nd house is for relatives [and

not family]. So, the 'partner' here came from my relative circle. It was not

any of my friends or something else. It was not even a closes cousin [then it

would be from 3rd house] but to describe the relationship between him and me,

'relative' would be most appropriate. This is shown by the star lord of Moon,

ie Saturn.

So in Me-Mo-Sa I defeated my enemies [sa 6th lord exalted] in a competition

[6th] and won award [Mo 11th lord] and it was a joint venture project [Moon in

7th] with my relative [PD lord in 2nd who is also Moon's star lord.]

So in a nutshell -

1. Moon is in star of 6th lord, it will made me fight with enemies in it's AD.

2. But those will happen in 'appropriate' PDs.

3. Ju natural benefic in 3rd, means defeat. So both AD and PD shows defeat, so I

was troubled by enemies.

4. But in the Sa PD i defeated my enemies because Saturn is exalted 6th lord.

5. It was also an achievement since Moon is the 11th lord.

So in nutshell we can understand that an AD gives rise to many possibilities and

those possibilities will materialize one by one in the PDs oncerned. Thus each

side of a house, planet might come to effect. Like -

> Moon in 7th house. Romance. The PDs positive to romance are of Ju and Ve. Bec

Ju 7th lord and Ve 9th lord natural karaka of romance. So in these two PDs

relationship will go great.

> 7th house also is for partnership. The PD appropriate is of Sat since Sat is

in 2nd house, [relatives] so partnership with relatives.

> And with the partnership I defeat my enemies [6th] and win award [11th].

> Moon is in 7th house. So journeys. In Me-Mo-Mo I visited India for about 1.5

months. Reason - Fathers eye treatment. Fathers eye = 2nd to 10th = 11th, Moon

itself.

> Sat exalted 6th lord so in Sat PD though I defeat my enemies and win award but

relationship will be troublesome. This is the example of different faces of

life.

> Sat natural karaka for loneliness, and the AD lord is in star of Saturn, so it

is controlled by Saturn - Saturn dominates the situation fully. So in Me-Mo-Sa I

was totally alone in home for about 1 month.

> That time I had difficulty in eating because Saturn is 6th lord [hunger] in

2nd [foods] and it is again against of enjoyment such as good foods etc., the

things donated by Venus.

> Saturn exalted 6th lord [infection] in 2nd [face]. So this time my pimple

problem suddenly took a pick and became out of control.

So, life has all different parametres. And Jyotish will show the same. The basic

idea behind the discussion is a planet can be involved with a house by simply

being placed in the star of the house lord. Moon being in the 6th lord's star

will give interactions with enemies. The interactions will be overall negative

and the negative side will materialize in an appropriate PD [such as Ju] and

the positive things will be materialize in an appropriate PD too, such as the

exalted 6th lord. Other significations we can list will eventually come to play

in different appropriate PDs. So we will have to see different sides of the same

placement. A planet will be involved with a house by different facts and the

results should have to be judged so. An exalted 6th lord alone can not always

promiss victory because an afflicted planet in the star of 6th lord or in the

6th house will trouble. Also a natural benefic in the house 3rd or 8th will

trouble from enemies. Now from the past experience logically I can see upoming

Ju AD will give some trouble from enemies and that will be mostly in the PD of

Moon and in the PD of Saturn I will be able to fire them back! Well Sat PD

comes before Mo PD so it means in Sat PD I will bash some of my enemies which

they will take revenge later on Moon PD! The notable fact to notice here that

if Ju was not connected to this 'enemy matter' then the PDs would not give such

notable interaction with enemies because PDs can not go out of ADs as ADs can

not go out of MDs because ADs are the borders of the PDs and the MDs are the

borders of ADs.

Best wishes,

Tanvir

Hi Tanvir:

I went through your article. Well written.

However I had a few basic questions? How is Moon in the Nakshatra

(star) of the 6th Lord Saturn? I believe Saturn is in the Swati

Nakshatra in your Natal and the Nakshatra Lord is Rahu. I dont see

any other planets in Swati.

So shouldnt Moon be in Swati nakshatra to confirm the theory below.

In your Natal, Moon is showing up in Uttara nakshatra. Maybe the

Astro calculator I am using is slightly skewed or maybe not.

In any case please throw some light as to how you are mapping the

star of the 6th Lord and how is Moon showing up in the star of

Saturn.

Thanks.

Yours truly.

dear sanjay jee,

my moon is in 10deg 04 mins pisces, that places it in the UBha star, [#26] that is ruled by sani.

i think you are a bit confused, when u wrote -

How is Moon in the Nakshatra (star) of the 6th Lord Saturn? I believe Saturn is

in the Swati Nakshatra in your Natal and the Nakshatra Lord is Rahu. I dont see

any other planets in Swati.

as per ur second sentence yes sat is in the star of rahu, but that is not the

ques, the ques is which planet star the moon is of? the ans is sat. means moon

is posited in the star of saturn, so saturn is the star dispositor of moon.

moon is in the #26 nakshatra, means uttar-bhadra pada.

hope it helps.

Re: Enemies, battles and competitions

Hi Tanvir:I went through your article. Well written. However I had a few basic

questions? How is Moon in the Nakshatra (star) of the 6th Lord Saturn? I

believe Saturn is in the Swati Nakshatra in your Natal and the Nakshatra Lord

is Rahu. I dont see any other planets in Swati. So shouldnt Moon be in Swati

nakshatra to confirm the theory below. In your Natal, Moon is showing up in

Uttara nakshatra. Maybe the Astro calculator I am using is slightly skewed or

maybe not. In any case please throw some light as to how you are mapping the

star of the 6th Lord and how is Moon showing up in the star of Saturn.

Thanks.Yours truly. --Sanjay

Hi Tanvir:

Thanks for clarifying. That means that Jupiter which in the star of

Anuradha (star #17) is in the star of Saturn too and that makes

Saturn the star dispositor of Jupiter too in your Natal. Great!!

I was confused and interpreting your sentence this way

as you wrote: <<<<<

"For the first step [1] we will have to see the following planets-

4. The planets posited in the stars of the 6th lord"

>>>>>>

.....I interpred as the planets posited in the Star in which Saturn

is (Swati) and I could see none.

But now I get it. According to your theory the planets posited in

the stars of the 6th lord (Saturn) are Moon and Jupiter in your

Natal and would be considered by you to do a particular house

analysis in that Natal.

Summarizing Saturn is the star dispositor of Moon and Jupiter in

your Natal chart.

I have never heard of this technique for house and other analysis

but seems like an Interesting and Unique one.

Best Regards.

Me, the author is the copyright holder of this article and you can not publish

Tanvir

you are right. note that the trouble from enemies was in Ju PD and one of the

imp reason was it is ALSO in the star of 6th lord and it is well placed but

that does not promiss victory bec it is natural benefic in 3rd house. the imp

reason is that ju is in the star of 6th lord which i totally forgot to mention.

bec i didnt / couldnt revise the write up after writing it, that i always do.
