Guest guest
More on Eclipses, There was superstition that a magical stone was said to be shaped like a human tongue, and was believed to fall from the sky during Lunar Eclipse. This superstition may sound foolish now, yet there lies behind it an arcane meaning. It was believed that during the time of eclipse mankind had an opportunity to communicate with the Gods: the tongue-like stone was a sign that such communication was possible. Many of the old rituals connected with the recognition of the new Moon are survivals of a time when priests signalled that the pathway to the Gods had been closed- a closure announced cosmically by the emergence of the new crescent. Some occultists have insisted that eclipses are cosmic safety valves, which periodically allow evil forces to escape into the cosmos, where they will be no harm to mankind. According to certain occult theories, the shadow lane of the solar eclipses permitted initiated priests to communicate with higher Gods, and put to them questions of profound importance. Some scholars maintain that this was underlying reason why the ancients built the mysterious stone circles which are still scattered through parts of northern Europe. By means of these circles, the priests were able to predict with great accuracy the coming of eclipses, and at the august times communicate with Gods. It is only in modern times that astronomers have begun to realise that the ancient stone circles and megaliths are found in such abundance in Europe are astronomical observatories. It has been suggested that the more complex circles, such as Stonehenge, Avebury and Callanish are megalithic computers. The esotericist Rudolf Steiner indicated that the ancient Northern Mystery Schools made use of the stone circles to study cosmic phenomena. By means of advanced mathematics it is possible to calculate the times of eclipses, there is no simple eclipse cycle by which astronomers can predict total solar eclipses for a given place, or locality. It is now recognised that the solar temple of the megalithic complex of Mnajdra was designed to measure the extreme solstitial positions. The idea of eclipses provide ‘tunneling into the spiritual world’ is expressed very graphically in hermitic literature. Lunar Eclipse is viewed as the equivalent of the God orisis being laid in his coffin according to the Priest of Delphi, Plutarch. The shadow of the earth into which they think the Moon has fallen and is eclipsed is called Typhon. It seems that even the ancient snake-the Old Serpent-that dwelt in the garden of Eden was linked originally with the lunar eclipse, and with the shadowy lightless tunnels in which such eclipse take place. There was a solar eclipse occurred at the time of crucifixion of Christ. Hermit literature mentions that just as the star which led the Magi to tehnew born Jesus was not an ordinary star so the darkness which shrouded the Earth at the death of Christ was casued by no ordinary eclipse. An English astrologer A. J. Pearce mentions that the length of an eclipse was a direct index of the length of time its effect would operate on the life of the native. Total eclipse of the Sun which was visible at Cairo on 17th May 1882, it lasted for three hours and twenty five minutes. This eclipse influenced for three years and five months by giving the effect of wars and plague. Lunar eclipse brings earth quakes whereas solar eclipses bring volcanic activity, especially when the eclipses occur on earth signs. The article continues..... Yours sincerely A. Ramani.
