Guest guest
dear Tanvir: I would agree whole heartilly. And in additon, I think Astrology represents more the subjective sciences of modern times like Psychology and Sociology. In fact, one time, when I had just gotten back from India where I had been exposed to Jyotish for the first time, I ran into a friend of mine. He was the Head of the Department of Psychology of a mid-western US Universtiy. And when I saw him for the first time, I yelled out to him; "Skip!, I think Jyotish is Vedic Psychology." Now, as the years have flown by, and having done thousands and thousands of charts; I'm sure you can relate, It starts to dawn on me, that Jyotish is very real and more like this great Vedic, 'Genetics', Knowledge. One of modern sciences greatest dreams is to figure out, through Genetics, how the whole physiology works. They want to know, how the life moves from combining two individual male & female cells to the human being in front of us. Also, one of the dreams of modern science is to be able to improve the person by improving the very deep, cellular, 'gene' level within. At some point it occured to me that Jyotish was a perfect science of Genetics. You can look at someone's chart; and if we're again, 'subjectively' good enough, we can see everything. We can see what they're going to be like mentally, which is Psychology. If we look from a different angle, through the Physiology and body, configurations we can see a person's genetic make-up. We can tell from someone's chart who's going to be pre-disposed to heart attacks, Cancer or diseases of each and every kind. (Medicine). We can tell looking at someone's chart, especially through the Dasas, how the person is going to fare in social situations. We can tell how their teen years will be. We can tell each and every time period of their life. This is very Educational with a dash of Sociology thrown in. We can then tell, how groups of Charts, thrown together, in Family Life, School situations, Towns, cities, countries and even the whole world will be creating life together. This is the greatest kind of Sociology modern science has ever been able to match. In conclusion Jyotish represents the quintessence of pure Science. But, it's been difficult to see because Jyotish comes down to us from the Ancient past, and like all the other Vedic disciplines, which represent the most pure Scientific disciplines, they pre-date Modern Science, so we think of them as being quaint, folk lore and more superstition than Science. Astrology is not an easy subject as the non-astro people think. In fact, it is rather difficult than physics, math and many others! Because it is a very irregular area to study and the path is completely separate, it is not that you finish memorizing some books and can call yourself to be a good astrologer, it has no fixed course. It needs total devotion of mind and soul, and sincereness, a very difficult path indeed. Some things required to learn Vedic Astrology are reading good books, taking part in discussions, having sincere devotion and after all, the divine blessings...
