Hello;

I am quite new to Astrology, but quite experienced in other eastern

philosophies.

I started experimenting with wearing gems and found their effects to

be quite powerfull.

I am also finding that vedic astrology has the best theoretical

explanations for proper use of gems.

My question to this group is if it makes any sense to wear a 9 gem

bundle called "navaratna" as advocated by some vedic Astrologers ?

I am little hesitant about wearing it, because it makes more sense to

me to adopt an approach described by Tanvir (strenghten the benefic

planets with gems and pacify malefic ones with pereforming offerings).

Neverthelless navaratnas are advertised far and wide on the internet,

and described in vedic books>

Can someone knoledgeable please help me with this dillema.

Thanks, slawek.

Salam.

I am not aware in what cases Nav Ratna rings are prescribed. Though some people

prescribe them but I do not know why. But I think the actual effect is really

very little since all the stones are really of small sizes to give a notable

effect, and also since it includes all the 9 planets, all the planets are

strengthened to a very slight degree. So I do not see what is the benefit here

strengthening all the malefic planets including Rahu, Ketu, 6th and 8th lord

etc. Rather a 9th lord / 5th lord stone seems more logical and benefical.

Though some people suggest that they 'balance up' things, logically it does not

say so. If your Venus is in own house, and Mercury is in enemy house, their

strength will be different, even in Shad baala their strength would be

different. So in order to 'balance' them, you need to put them different amount

of strength - can that be done with a nav ratna ring? And what is the need of

strengthening malefic planets unless some very rare case? If a malefic planet

is really afflicted or needs to be strengthened, it's gem can be used in left

hand with some caution.

May be there is some very expert reason behind a nav ratna ring, but all the

astrologers I know do not suggest this. Anyway I have seen people wearing bad

stones for years and getting no sudden effect rather a slow poisoning, so they

do not understand about it and keep wearing and suffering.

best wishes,

Tanvir
