Dear Vistiji,

In reading the section of your book on Badhaka, and more specifically, the

first case study (chart 130), I was reminded of a person I know that has a

lot of obstructions around her Guru and spiritual practice. (see the

attached file for the JHora chart) Her Badhakesh is Guru (Jupiter). She

has a hard time doing what he recommends, but instead creates all kinds of

obstacles.

In the example chart, you speak of taking the rasi of the lord of the ninth

and figuring another badhaka house from there. In this case, it becomes the

same rasi as the Badhakesh for the chart (Libra). And Brihaspataye is there

as well. Would you say that this also removes the badha from meeting the

Guru?

My guess is that, her obstacles can strongly center around the Guru and

doing what he suggests. And that he is helping her to overcome the

obstacles incured by having met him. Would you agree? Or does this

confirm, even more strongly that her obstacles center around the Guru?

Also, can you similarly assess obstacles from other points, such as

obstacles in relation to marraige, from taking the lord of the UL and

figuring the Badhaka and Badhakesh from there?

Thank you. John Fontaine

Dear John,

Namaskar

Badhaka to

the ninth lord shows the obstacles in meeting the Guru, or having the gurus

association. Problems in following advice is a case of being an obstacle to

ones self.

In this

chart the badhakesh is Jupiter, aspected by Saturn showing Brahmin shaapa and

badhaka from the same. Because Jupiter is retrograde it means the remedies will

be very hard to get or very hard to follow.

This same

Jupiter has luckily removed the obstacles in getting the Guru because it is

placed in the badhaka sthana from the ninth lord, but the remedy is denied due

to the retrogression.

Ask her to

do a mantra for Shiva in the form of Trayambakeshvara. i.e. Om Namah Shivaaya

Trayambakeshaaya Haum Joom Sah.

Best

wishes,

is of interest to me.

Please help me in understanding correctly. In the

example below, you

discuss badhak stan from 9H. Are you implying that

[Visti] No.

Please read the example carefully, there seems to be two people who have

misunderstood me so far. I was looking at badhaka from the ninth lord.

When

Badhakesh is in the ninth house it causes problems because the person has

forgotten their worshipped deity in past lives. A whole list of badhakas is

given in Prasna Marga.

font-family:"Courier New"">

In my case, Sag is the lagna and Me is the

badhakesh placed in 7th.

What do you think would be the effect?

[Visti] Bhadra

Mahapurusha Yoga... surely this will remove all badhaka don’t you think?

font-family:"Courier New"">

Me is joined by 9L Sun and 6L/11L Ve, and Gulika

and Mandi in the

same house Gemini. As evident, Me is placed in

badhakstan and MKS

from lagna. Me is also my Ista devata and GK. My

UL (10H) is Vi,

again ruled by Me. I had expected obstacles in

this period. But I did

get married in the current period although my UL

matters (e.g career). I

itself especially

with regards to 7H and 10H matters. I would be

grateful if

[Visti] So

your Ishta Devata is now removing all badhaka through a mahapurusha yoga??? Great!

Problem is that ninth lord Sun is joined showing that you have forgotten to

worship Vishnu (your ishta being Mercury) and Venus the sixth lord shows that

you could face some jealousy from others when you stop the worship for a longer

period of time. Make sure you do your Ishta Mantra regularly.

Many thanks

Gurudev Pranaam,

How about seeing other aspects of horoscope in similar manner for

badhaka like from 7th lord for marrige or from 5th lord regarding

children?

Second, how about using badhka from karakas like from venus for

spouse etc.

Third, does this also imply on CK like badhaka from DK or AK etc?

Thanks & regards

Pranaam

Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya

Dear Visti Ji,

Thank you for explaining. You are absolutely correct, I have

experienced "evil eye" for sometime now.

While I do feel the bhadra person in myself, I still have a doubt. I

have read that luminaries reduce the effect of pancha mahapurusha

yogas. What is your opinion about it? Also, I was wondering - because

I was born at dusk (sayam sandhya)as indicated by 7th position of

Sun, would the same make any difference to this yoga or otherwise?

Thanks again,

Amit

Gurudev Pranaam,

How about seeing other aspects of horoscope in

similar manner for

badhaka like from 7th lord for marrige or from 5th

lord regarding

children?

Second, how about using badhka from karakas like

from venus for

spouse etc.

Third, does this also imply on CK like badhaka

from DK or AK etc?

Thanks & regards

Pranaam

Dear Amit,

Namaskar

The

luminaries have to be strong to initiate and sustain the yoga, as per Saravali.

Budha gets

very strong during Sandhya, so it benefits the yoga.

Are you

worshipping Vishnu?

Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya

Dear Visti Ji,

Namaskar and thank you for the saravali reference. I found the verse

on luminaries ch.38-22. I earlier had got swayed by information on a

website: http://www.vedic astrology.net/panchama.htm

"The conjunction of one of the luminaries, the Sun or the Moon, with

the yoga-forming planet is an obstruction to the effects of the

Mahapurusha Yoga. In this case the characteristic effects of the

Mahapurusha Yoga is greatly diminished".

I am not sure of the authenticity of this info. Could you please

confirm if this is metioned anywhere in the classics?

re: worship of Vishnu, I have been fortunate to be born in a

vaishnava family in this life. Hence praying to my Ishta has come to

me from my elders. I guess 9L conjunction shows this?

As mentioned earlier, my problems in this period have been restricted

to career alone. I have started doing narayana kavacham recently and

found good things coming my way in personal life. Although Me is 11th

from AL, there hasn't been much change on the professional front.

Intriguing enough? surely, it is to me, for I'm not as learned.

Here are my birth details - 03Jul1976,17.50,76E39/12N18. I'm sure you

will spot something that I have missed.

best wishes,

Amit
