Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krishna || Dear Samir, Namaskar. I remember you asked me some time back about the degrees of longitude that Jhora uses. I said that I will ask Guru-ji and return to you. Recently, I met him and asked him about this. He has said that he possibly used the standard longitudinal degrees in Jhora that he got from standart text. Additionally, he mentioned that he hasn't used latitudes for determining combustion. But since he done this a long time back (at the beginning of JHora formulation) he couldn't remember which book he used, at the time I asked him the question. I suggest you use your judgement about combustion degrees. Hope you are doing well. Best regards, Sourav
Guest guest
|| Hare Räma Kåñëa || Dear Sourav, Namaskar Thanks for taking the time to get that information. I (and a few others I think) was under the impression that JHora did include latitude when computing combustion. I had another look through my notes, and found that Visti Ji uses the parameters given in Surya Siddhanta for combustion (but with latitude included). I haven't got the book (it seems to be quite difficult to get hold of), but these are the values I believe it gives for combustion: Moon 12 degrees or less from the Sun, Mars 17, Mercury 14, Jupiter 11, Retrograde Venus 10, Saturn 15. It would appear that Jhora uses something slightly different to this. As you say, it's probably best left to intuition, for now at least. I hope you're well.
