Dear Nandkumar, Namaskar

If you have Jagannath Hora, the sunrise and sunset times for a particular

location on any date are given along with the other Key Info (near the

bottom). Alternatively you can find them at

http://www.csgnetwork.com/sunriseset.html by entering your

coordinates and date.

I hope that helps.

Thanks

Actually, Samir I was looking for the formal or generally accepted definition of

Sunrise really. In other words for any place how does one know that the sun has

risen i.e.

1) Should one be able to see the top rim of the Sun, OR

2) Should one be able to see the top half of the Sun OR

3) Should one be able to see the whole Sun fully risen but just above the horizon.

Each of the above option has a definite time and thus based on the definition

taken, the sunrise time for a given place will vary by several minutes.Any way

thanks for the website address.

Dear Nandkumar, Namaskar

Ah OK - The issue is a touchy one, because even within the SJC there are

different opinions about what should be taken as the definition of

Sunrise.

But what my Guruji and Sanjayji use is the tip of the sun's disk

appearing to be on the Eastern horizon. This is based on a

shloka from Varahamihira I think. But there are other lines of

thinking also - which Jagannatha Hora has listed.

I hope that helps,

Samir
