Dear Friends, Namaskar

Nabhasa yogas are said to give resuls throughout one's life.

Also, Rahu & Ketu are not included in these yogas. You can refer to

any classic to find more about these yogas.

When we say malefics, we mean natural malefics. Ketu is considered a

natural malefic for purposes other than dharma/spirituality (marriage

included as our dharma).

Also, Rahu - Ketu is the two parts of the snake (asura) used in the

sagar manthan. So, it is natural to consider them as part of the

sarpa yoga.

When we consider natural malefics giving such a yoga, it is logical

to think that natural benefics will be able to provide the relief

from such consequences of Sarpa yoga.

Lagna & 7th house axis indicates our desires and passions, while the

4-10 th axis provides the assiciations.

So, on these lines one can think about the Sarpa yoga.

hope this helps.

Dear Venkatesh, Namaskar

That's weird - it should do. Perhaps it's a little bug in the

software.

Is anything special due to happen at this time/date/place?

Dear Samir,

Let me apply some logic here.

According to BPHS

Chapter 36-- Natural Benefic do not give auspicious effect when they

are lord of angle. And natural malefic in that position do not give

auspicious result, while lord of trine whether benefic or malefic

always give auspicious result.

Now the point is lord of Ascendant always give good result as

ascendant is both an angle and trine. Be it benefic are malefic. For

example In Gemini and Virgo ascendant, Mercury being lord of 4th and

10th respectively become lord of angle, but he does not lose his

benefic nature. But in both these ascendants Jupiter will be lord of

two angle house and he will lose its benefic aspect considered to be

infected with Kendradhipati Dosa.

So here we can see ascendant plays and important role. In the Same

manner for given data

October 23,2005

5:30 East

Place: New Delhi India

You can notice that Capricorn is rising in the ascendant. For

Capricorn, Mars, Jupiter and the moon are malefic, while Venus and

Mercury are benefic. Saturn himself will not be a killer. Saturn

though the lord of killing house the 2nd one, he is free form

disposition of killer as he is ascendant lord.

Sun also does not get the defect of being 8th lord. He will act for

the Capricorn ascendant in the same manner as the moon does for

Sagittarius ascendant.

Only Mars in this case is the malefic of first order. And Jupiter

become inauspicious being lord of 3rd house

Mercury in this ascendant has his mooltrikona sign in the ninth house

therefore he will give effect of ninth house. He might give some

obstacle in the beginning of his dasa and anterdasa.

So it breaks the Sarpa yoga.

I request Gurudev to put some light on this.

Dear Ajay, Namaskar

Three points:

1. I'm pretty sure that with the Nabhasa Yogas we don't use the

functional nature of planets. By definition, Sarpa Yoga is formed

when three kendras are occupied by naisargika krura grahas (nodes

included).

2. You'll find that in other cases, Jagannath Hora lists Sarpa Yoga

even if it is broken by benefics.

3. As to why there is no Sarpa Yoga in the chart posted by

Venkatesh, I've had a think about it and it struck me that for the

purposes of Nabhasa Yogas, the Sun is not considered a malefic when

joined benefics. In this case the Sun is joined Mercury and

Jupiter. So Jagannatha Hora is indeed correct! There is no

Sarpa Yoga in the chart.

Best wishes,

Samir

Dear Sameer

Your Point about sun joining benific considered as benific does not

hold good as you can see in D-144 chart of the following native Sun

in kendra does not have any conjucation or aspect from benific, is

still not condisidered as malefic. And it does not show any sarpa

yoga for the D-144 chart.

It means Sun is not included in the malific list for Sarpa yoga

calculation.

Dear Ajay, Nitin, Venkatesh and list, Namaskar

I wonder if the Moon-Mars conjunction in Aries is responsible for this

little spate of snowballing. Please let's try and keep things

friendly here, so we can all learn in the best possible

environment.

Nitin - I think Ajay was using the D-144 just to illustrate the method by

which JHora calculates the Sarpa Yoga - nothing more :).

Ajay - yes, the software doesn't show a Sarpa Yoga in the D-144 of the

chart you supplied - which means that we've still missed something.

The only other reason I can think of is that it considers the yoga

nullified if two or more benefics (Mercury included) occupy

kendras also. This would also justify Venkatesh's chart.

However we would need to examine more charts to find out for sure (or ask

Narasimhaji!)

As to the other point about the Sun becoming benefic (for Nabhasa yogas

only, as far as I know), you have probably read the reason for this in

Goelji's article. But for those who haven't:

Parasara hasn't stated it explicitly, but consider the following yogas

given by him:

Vajra (Arkti) Yoga - All benefics in 1/7th and all malefics in

4/10th.

Yava (Akrti) Yoga - All malefics in 1/7th and all benefics in

4/10th.

Now - think a little upon this (Sun, Venus and Mercury in particular) and

it becomes clear that we have to make some inferences in order to make

the yogas possible at all... That inference is that the Sun must be

considered a benefic when joined benefics.

Venkatesh - this was the basis on which I said that the Sun would not

complete the Sarpa Yoga in the chart you supplied.

Best wishes,

Samir

Dear Nitin,

Pranaam,

First, I never claimed that I understand the D-144 chart. Forget D-

144 my understanding has not reached beyond Rasi Chart till now.

Second, If you care to read the entire string the confusion was

over "Sun being benefic or Malefic" for Nabhasa Yoga. The D-144

chart

was mention just to see the malefic in in all three kendra along

with "SUN" and considered being benefic by Jhora. Thus Sarpa

yoga was

not mentioned in that particular division.

Third, So lets not deviate from the point and talk about ones

awareness to transcend....blah blah blah....because that is not going

to yield any beneficial argument for the list.

Fourth and last if you have any clues on how and why "Sun" is

considered for Nabhassa yogas share with the list.

BTW, if you have awareness to transcend not only the conscious, the

subconscious, the super, the supra conscious and more for

understanding D-144 chart you are most welcome to share.
