#2 Some Basic Defination & their Relationships

Dear…? And list members, Namaskaar.

 

Allow me to share some of my understanding.

 

• Sun Sign -- Sign being occupied by the Sun at the time of birth

 

• Moon Sign -- Sign being occupied by the Moon at the time of birth

 

• Birth Rashi – Same as Lagna (see below)

 

• Birth Star (Nakshatra) – Moon’s asterism; An asterism is a further division of

a sign

 

• Navamsas – The 1/9th division (subdivisional) of the Rashi (natal chart),

commonly abbreviated by some as the D9

 

• Lagana – The Ascendant – rising sign at East at the time of birth

 

…still trying to figure out how these are all linked together and work. It’s a

long study.

• Sun Sign

• Moon Sign

Dear Nitin,

Namaskar. Asterism (nakshatra) is not a division of a

sign itself. There are 27 equal divisions of the zodiac each called

an asterism. One sign constitutes the span of two asterisms and a

portion of another next asterism.
