Namaste! I am also new here and new to Jyotish, but let me try helping you. You should get a good book on jyotish and get these things clarified. I started with the Light on Life by Hart de Fouw and Robert Svoboda. It is a very good book. Sun Sign is the sign where sun stands in the chart under consideration. Birth rasi is sign attached to the first house. It should be the same as lagna. Birth star is the constelation in which the Moon was found at the time and place of birth. Navamsa is one of 16 divisional charts, D-9 or chart derived from natal chart by special definition. You can find that in the book I mentioned or here http://sutradhari.com/parasara6.htm How these are linked is answered when we understand the science of chart interpretation. You interpret charts by knowing and applying the grammar and dictionary of Jyotish, because charts are like symbols and so be able to read them we have to know words and rules of grammar. Jyorish is a language, and chart interpretation is reading that language. Sun is a word, Moon is a word and these words can have many meanings. Like instead of sun you can put ego, God, soul, father...hundred of things. Just like in Sanskrt one word can mean many things. Moon stands for mind, emotions, mother, intuition, memory and so on. Then you have some rules of grammar by which you can make a statement. One of the rules says that if a planet is in kendra or kona house, then all those things it means will be positive in the native whose chart we analize. So if we find Sun in kendra(houses 1,4,7 or 10) we can say that his soul is developed, his father is strong person, etc. Navamsa is a chart chich is read by specific set of rules or principles. It is a chart or fruit or chart of soul. It is used to better determine strengths of planets in the main chart. There are 27 naksatras or constelations in which Moon can be found. These all have different character and will influence our character. For instance my Moon is under Purva Bhadrapada which indicates serious fearfull person who is good speaker. So you can use that meaning to predict the character of the person. When while reading a chart you find by application of different rules, the same meaning, then you have a confluence, or superposition, strong indication, repetition. You can be sure the statement is true.\ Something along these lines.
Guest guest
Hi, Sun sign : It is the month in which your birthday falls. Moon sign & Birth Rashi : Both are one and the same in your horoscope the sign in which moon is placed is called moon sign or birth rashi for e.g. in your horoscope if moon at the time of your birth is placed in second sign of zodiac , i.e. taurus then your moon or birth rashi is taurus. Birth Star : At the time of your birth the sign occupied by moon and the nakshatra ruling it becomes your birth star or constellation as said above if your birth or moon sign is taurus and at that particular moment of your birth the moon in taurus was in Rohini nakshatra or constellation then that becomes your nakshatra at birth. Navamsa : 9th division of each sign is Navamasa . Navamsa chart are usually referred at the time of marriage . Lagna or Ascendant sign : The first house of the horoscope and the sign placed in it is called lagna or ascendant. e.g in your horoscope the first house occupies the 5th sign of zodiac i.e. Leo then your ascendant or lagna is Leo. All these are definately linked together and predictions are usually done based on above points. Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krishna || Dear Govind-ji, Namaskar. Wrong choice of study source. Always go for text books and not internet sources even though they tout it to be exact translation etc. Lagna is not the same as 1st house rasi. Lagna is a mathametical point that is rising in the eastern horizon at the time of birth. It is *not* the rasi, but it occupies a rasi just like a planet occupies a rasi. You seem to have developed many wrong notions about planets like Sun in a Kendra or Kona. Try to abandon them and study in the way text books recommend. Guest guest
|| Om Krsna Guru || Dear Govind, Namaskar As Sourav has mentioned, it's not a good idea to use online versions of texts. They are incomplete and often corrupted (I learn't this the hard way). A (minor) addition is that generally birth rasi (Janma Rasi) is the Moon Sign, not Lagna. Under the "Files" section (see left side of this website) go to the last file called "Vedic astrology- Study suggestions.doc" Also go to www.srath.com www. a.org And you can read introductory materials there. Try to learn as much from books and not from websites. Regards, Sourav P.S. Its better if you can write your post at the beginning rather than at the end of the quoted text from the previous posting. In this way it is much nicer to read without scrolling down to the bottom. , "govinda108m" <govinda108m> wrote: > > , "govinda108m" > <govinda108m> wrote: > > > > , "mail_manu_unam" > > <mail_manu_unam> wrote: > > > > > > > > > I am new to astrology & came across few terms can you help me in > > > understanding the following terms: > > > · Sun Sign > > > · Moon Sign > > > · Birth Rashi > > > · Birth Star (Nakshatra) > > > · Navamsas > > > · Lagana > > > > > > Plz let me know how exactly all these above are linked with one > > > another & work together. > > > > > > > > Namaste! > > > > I am also new here and new to Jyotish, but let me > > try helping you. > > > > You should get a good book on jyotish and get these things > > clarified. Guest guest
Regarding 'birthstar' and seed for nakshatra dashas, particularly vimshottari, it is important to keep in mind that Satyacharya has a slightly different view. Natal moon is not the default in the case of each and every horoscope.
