Dear List,

I have read many books on Vedic Astrology and always the question arises on my

mind when I see that some teach that the Mooltrikona Sign for the Moon is

Taurus, others say it is Cancer, but nowhere I can find a reason or explanation

for this divergence, so I was wondering if Mrs Wendy or our other learned

members would clear my mind on which should be the right Mooltrikona sign for

the Moon.

Thanks and best wishes, Rui.

Dear Rui,

According to Parashara, Moon is exalted in first 3° Taurus; the rest

(of Taurus) is Moon's moolatrikona. Cancer is Moon's Own Sign;

Scorpio is sign of debilitation.

See Parashara: http://jyotishvidya.com/ch3.htm

49-50. EXHALTATION AND DEBILITATION:

for the seven planets from the Sun on, the signs of exaltation are

respectively Aries, Taurus, Capricorn, Virgo, Cancer, Pisces, and

Libra. The deepest exaltation degrees are respectively 10, 3, 28, 15,

5, 27 and 20 (in those signs). The same degrees of deep exaltation

apply to deep fall.

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Dear Mrs Wendy,

Thank you. I was already aware of the signs of exaltation and debilitation, just

not sure about the Mooltrikona sign as different books give different views.

Reading the link you sent me has cleared my thoughts and I have printed out all

other chapters to read later. Thank you so much for the work you have been doing

on your website, it is the best Jyotish site one can find on the net.

Best wishes, Rui.
