I haven't had time to look at this chart & join in on the

discussion. But this is what Parasara taught regarding Gulika in

the 3rd house:

"64. If Gulika is in the 3rd, the native will be charming in

appearance, will head a village, be fond of virtuous men, and be

honored by the king."

The info I found was that this economics laureate received his

diploma and gold medal from the Swedish monarch on December 10, 1994

in Stockholm. So here is a case where the native was indeed honored

by "a" king if not "the" king!

If that is the right date then the dasa was

Rahu-Sun-Saturn (Jhora's calculations)

So perhaps one way of using astrology to explain this "honor by the

Swedish Monarch" is with this placement of Gulika in the third.

Here Gulika is in the royal nakshatra of Magha and disposited by the

Royal Sun who sits in the 12th house of travel to far off lands,

conjuct Rahu who is also considered "foreign" and gives sudden rises

in status/fame. Gulika in third is aspected by Jupiter -- perhaps

this lended the academic coloring to the event. And Gulika is

further aspected by Saturn who perhaps delayed the honor for so long

(Saturn also aspects both Sun & Rahu).

The Nakshatra dispositer of Gulika, Ketu, was also activated during

this dasa as it is conjuct Saturn & receives aspect from the Sun.

Pehaps the event is just as easily explained with out using Gulika's

placement. But once I started in that direction everything seemed

to support it. It certainly could be just one of the many factors

that contributed to the manifestation of the event.

Take it easy,

study it further) Gulika's position in Leo is 6th from Moon and Mars

in Pisces and 8th to Moon and Mars in Pisces. It still is rather

dire - don't you think? Further Rt Saturn in 6th house Scorpio/Ma

aspects 3rd house Leo with Gulika there, effecting communication.

Along with Leo's ruler in 12th house Taurus (natural house of speech

and self security) with Rahu and Taurus's ruler Venus in own house.

Venus also rules fifth house Libra house of education, intelligence

and self creativity. Libra being the natural house of relationships

is also negatively then effected

Dear Sean,

Your efforts are appreciated, although the outcome is alarming. I've

sent a mail to Parashara's light asking for an explanation and

(hopefully) a patch to fix these errors.

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Gulika Re: John Nash

I know there was some uncertaintly about whether of not JHora and

other software gave the correct position of Gulika, so I did it the

long way to confirm:

Using John Nash's data:

13 Jun 1928; 7:00 AM; Bluefield, West Virginia [37n16, 81w13,

5:00 West, no DST]

Weekday: Wendesday, ruler = Mercury.

Sunrise on this day: 05:04

Sunset on this day: 19:46

Length of day portion: 14:42

For 8 equal portions each portion would be 1:50 in length

1st portion is Mercury's, 2nd Portion is Jupiter's, 3rd portion is

Venus', and 4th is Saturn's.

The 4th portion commences @ 10:36

Degree ascending @ 10:36 = Position of Gulika = 8 10' Leo

This is basically what JHora gives (8 7' Leo).

By the way, sunrise/sunset of any day at any location can be found

at:

Take it easy,

Sean

Dear Sean,

I've just calculated this manually (calculator not working) and,

according to my calculations, 8 equal portions of 14.42 comes to

1.50.15 (is this correct?). If so this gives the start of Gulika's

portion as 10.34.45 which is 1min 15sec earlier (compared to your

time of 10.36). Sunset time is then shown as 19.45.46 (rounded off to

19.46). I think it's more appropriate to do the rounding off at one

point rather than each portion increasing proportionately.

Of course my calculations could be off...

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Correction:

//Sunset time is then shown as 19.45.46 (rounded off to 19.46).//

That should read 19.45.45 (rounded off to 19.46).
