Guest guest
Hi all I am posting my views on Makar Sakranti and expect all the learned ppl to comment on it : Makar Sakranti is on 14th Jan,saturday this year. Sankranti means to go from one place to another place (to change direction). It also means one meets another. The time when the sun changes direction from one constellation (of the zodiac) to another is known as Sankranti. Transition of the Sun from Sagittarius to Capricorn during the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere (Uttarayana) is known as Makar sankranti. People in south celebrate this day as Pongal. Since capricorn is ruled by saturn so it is also regarded as Sun,father meeting his son, Saturn. Sun not only represents God but also stands for an embodiment of knowledge & wisdom. Sun is regarded as life-giver and Its a day to worship Sun. Please let me know if its good day for people with debilitated sun to worship sun. I assume that it is good day to worship for people with afflicted sun and saturn. Can some one detail on how can people (with afflicted sun and saturn) benefit by worshiping on this day. Thanks Angel for Good - Make a difference this year. http://brand./cybergivingweek2005/
Guest guest
Dear friend, Very wonderful narration of makr sakantranti.a very important festival for Hindus. In south as well as north makar sankranti is celeberated except that in tamilnadu as a gesture to the bhagwan surya ji pongal is celeberated. This part of the year also coincides with new fasal/crop.Also it is also menat pay obeissance to the elders as well as for the newly married time to spend time parents in laws.In south it has special significance as rangoli also put infront of the houses in decoration. The way to appease Sun i.e afflicted Sun is to listen to Aditya hriday as well as sury kavach. If one can recite early morning it is always best. wearing a copper band ring regulary to anamika is also suggested.regular offering arghya or water to sun is suggested. For afflicted to involve in serving to the lower and needy strata of people and offering the old clothes, chappals and roti is one way of seeking grace of sani.otherway is to light mustard oil near peepal tree on saturday. The same thing if done with arghya near peepal tree is to appease to afflicted sun and saturn krishnan angel <angelgoel wrote: Hi all I am posting my views on Makar Sakranti and expect all the learned ppl to comment on it : Makar Sakranti is on 14th Jan,saturday this year.
