Guest guest
Dear xxxx, You Wrote: *In the past I have on a few occasions come across your posts to Sanjay Rath where you argue how he delineates from the Parasara norm. I am guessing that Robert's book here is filled with Jamini as well as Parasara that you might object to.* That's just ridiculous! Why on earth would I object to Jaimini etc.. These are legitimate methods of prediction. What I do object to is mixing one method with another. We wouldn't consider applying the principles of Chinese astrology to the Vimsottari dasa system would we? or using the Western tropical zodiac in conjunction with a Vedic chart... In the same way we should not use Jaimini methods of prediction along with the Parashara system. They ARE seperate systems, and Astrologers, like R. Koch, who are unable to grasp this fact have no credibility. My views on Mr. Koch and his ilk have not changed nor are they likely to. If you wish to use the Jaimini system, that's fine. If you wish to use the Nadi system, that's fine. If you wish to use the Western system, that's fine. If you wish to use the KP system, that's fine. If you wish to use the SA, that's fine. Whatever you feel comfortable with, stick to it, but DON'T mix and match one system with another...it leads to total confusion! It's hoped that Jyotish-Vidya can present the Parashara system as the pure "stand-alone" method of prediction that it is. I do not agree with Mr. Koch's views on Astrology any more than I agree with his MILITANT approach to religion...denouncing everyone who doesn't abide by his views. Mr. Koch is very ambitious in regards to religion and astrology (Vedic Sciences). This is not surprising with F/M Mars in 9th in nakshatra of Jupiter. He has no qualms denouncing those who don't adhere to his religious or astrology ideas, neither does he have any qualms about stabbing anyone in the back who stands in the way of his career/recognition... Saturn in 10th! Yes, he can speak very nicely and impress with his knowledge but be aware of F/M Jupiter conjunct Ketu in 2nd house of knowledge/speech. Mr. Koch's chart, in the public arena for many years, has been discussed openly and publicly with his consent. He knows my views! FW: www.chakra.org writeup on RK-Patraka das' newly released Vedic Astrology- Jyotish book! Dear Wendy, I am not sure if you are aware or not but Robert Koch's book came out in October. Below is a critique of it. I purchased it last month and I find it to be exceptional and comprehensive along with an advanced spirituality in Vedic astrology presented. I have no Idea how long it will take me to get through this book but I am glad I have it in my Vedic library. The terminology alone will keep me glued to a Vedic/English dictionary for years. In the past past I have on a few occasions come across your posts to Sanjay Rath where you argue how he delineates from the Parasara norm. I am guessing that Robert's book here is filled with Jamini as well as Parasara that you might object to. Even so, I thought I would pass this article on to you. If you have the book for review or have purchased it for your own library - I would be interested in your critique and value of Robert's writing. I like the man personally. In fact a few years ago through another contact he was generous enough to give me a very generous surprise by rectifying my birth chart. I am not sure though, being a beginner in self study of only a few years about the objection about Jimini or Nadi or any of the other branches of Vedic astrology but I have taken notice that you object completely. So your valued opinion on the subject would also be appreciated. Of course when you have time and are well rested. I hope you don't mind me sending this privately. But, I thought best not to send it openly to the forum. xxxx (xxxx) www.chakra.org writeup on RK-Patraka das' newly released Vedic Astrology- Jyotish book! <http://www.chakra.org/images/chkrleft.gif> New Book Links Devotion, Astrology by Mohini dasi Posted December 22, 2005 The Spiritual Dimensions of Vedic Astrology Paravidya Publications, Bend, Oregon by Robert A. Koch (419 pages, $33.00 US) Patraka das, a.k.a. Robert A. Koch, has recently released a book on sidereal (Vedic) astrology. A disciple of His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedenta Swami Srila Prabhupada, Patraka das served for two decades as a sincere and dedicated pujari in Canadian and American ISKCON centers, often exhibiting apenchantfor scholastic and intellectual pursuits, initially glimpsed through his discourses and classes, then followed by tireless studies of sidereal astrology under the guidance of Jyotish Pundit Sanjay Rath for over 15 years. Now, Patraka's passionate dedication and mission has been confirmed:establishing spiritual links between the sacred writings of the four original Vedas, jyotish and its influence on advanced transcendentalists, whichhas become his tireless seva. His devotion to Srila Prabhupada's writings is obvious on every page of this presentation, and his painstaking research focuses on delineating this connection in a clear, easy-to-assimilate format. Patrakadas's immaculate writing attempts to establish jyotish as one of the four original cornerstones of human existence, declaring that Vedic astrology, cosmology and other disciplines handed down from Sri Krishna Narayana Himself are the oldest system of knowledge used by mankind before the advent of modern science. Backed with copious scriptural references, logic and page after page of succinct examples, including a tightly condensed and easily consulted version of the Creation and Vedic Cosmology and Vedic theology, this generous work of over 400 pages, focuses on the importance of transcendental spiritual existence, theonlygoal of human life. Complete with excellent study graphs, and accompanied with chart analyses of exalted saints, sadhus and devotee associates within our sampradaya, this book will likely become a textbook requirement in the study of astrology. It is a delight fordevotees, informative for scholars and compelling for intermediate jyotisha practitioners or anyone interested in the study of the stars and planets and their possible spiritual effect onall ourlives. These observations made sounds true. This where we are discounting reliability by mixing up various methods.Incase if we have to be more scientific we may prove and disprove by the same method not ecclectic approacj. krishnan Wendy Vasicek <jyotish wrote: Dear xxxx, You Wrote: *In the past I have on a few occasions come across your posts to Sanjay Rath where you argue how he delineates from the Parasara norm.
