Guest guest
Dear Angel, What you speak of belongs to the group of malika yogas (I believe). Unfortunately I don't have time to go into it at the moment. Having been away from the computer all day, all I can manage is a quick response before I put this weary body to bed...very late here now :-( PS: Your name gives me no clue as to your gender...are you male or female? Guest guest
Hi Wendy Ji Incase you get time please look into it. I was reading Sanjay Rath's book "Crux of Vedic Astrology".In that, he has touched this topic while discussing Akbar's chart. Akbar ,the great ,also had this yoga but starting from 1st house in main rasi chart. Even my close relative has the same yoga but starting from 8th house in rasi chart and 7th house in navmasa chart. So I wanted to know more about the same. I am female. thanks angel --- Wendy Vasicek <wenvas wrote: > Dear Angel, > > What you speak of belongs to the group of malika > yogas (I believe). > Unfortunately I don't have time to go into it at the > moment. Guest guest
Dear Angel, Malika means garland (or necklace) meaning the planets are arrayed like a garland in the horoscope. It's formed by the seven planets, from Sun through to Saturn, placed in SEVEN consecutive houses. The house the Malika Yoga begins from determines the specific type of Malika Yoga formed. Sankhya yogas are similar in that they indicate the number of rasis, from one through to seven, that the seven planets are situated in. Amongst the seven Sankhya Yogas, three yogas (Kedara, Dama and Veena Yogas, formed by the planets respectively in four, five or six rasis) support the native's capacity for happiness, three (Gola, Yuga and Sula Yogas, formed by the planets respectively in one, two or three rasis) reduce the native's capacity for happiness, and one yoga (Pasa Yoga, formed by the planets in five rasis) can either support or reduce the native's capacity for happiness. Unlike the Malika yogas the Sankhya yogas don't necessarily have to occupy consequtive houses, so there is some controversy amongst scholars regarding the interpretation of the yoga you spoke of i.e., all grahas occupying six consequtive houses. To my mind, all planets in six consequtive houses (without a break), constitutes an unbroken garland and is more akin to the Malika yogas than the Sankhya yogas. Perhaps we might hear some more on the interpretation of these yogas from other learned members... Guest guest
Dear Angel, Here is some more information gleaned from one of my reference books... (This is from Ernst Wilhelm's "Core Yogas" and I do wonder at his interpretation when he states that Grahamalika yoga incorporates all nine planets...including the nodes; as this would have the garland beginning and ending with one of the nodes?) However, here is what he has to say; Grahamalika "planetary garland" Yoga: All the nine planets consecutively in five, six, seven, eight or nine houses from the lagna or the Sun. The native with a Grahamalika Yoga will be fortunate Pancha-grahamalika Yoga: This is another type of Malika Yoga that considers Rahu and Ketu along with the visible planets. It is impossible for all the nine planets to be in less than 7 houses, therefore with respect to all the planets falling in 5 or 6 consecutive houses, consider the seven visible planets and only one of Rahu or Ketu. Just like the first group of Malika Yogas discussed, the Grahamalika Yogas are not dasa dependent, rather they indicate a foundation for success. 1. Panchagrahamalika Yoga is formed by all the planets in five consecutive houses from the lagna or the Sun. This is the weakest of the Grahamalika Yogas. 2. Shashtagrahamalika Yoga is formed by all the planets in six consecutive houses from the lagna or Sun. 3. Saptagrahamalika Yoga is formed by all the planets in seven consecutive houses from the lagna or Sun. 4. Ashtagrahamalika Yoga is formed by all the planets in eight consecutive houses from the lagna or Sun. 5. Navagrahamalika Yoga is formed by all the planets in nine consecutive houses from the lagna or Sun. The result of a specific Malika Yoga is dependent upon the house from which the yoga begins. The indications of that house will dictate the theme of the yoga. The Malika Yogas commencing from the dusthanas, therefore, have some undesirable effects, though all of them provide a foundation for success. If the Malika Yoga formed is also one of the troublesome Nabhasa/Akriti Yogas, though creating a foundation for success, the yoga will still indicate weaknesses in character that make it difficult for the native to really be happy and secure. Guest guest
dear angel it is not the way to learn astrology by following unverifiable charts like king akbar even b v raman has a good book called 300 important combinations explaining the yogas and one yoga cannot decide the out come of whole life giving the gift of being the great ruler of a country there is lot more to a chart then just one yoga i pity rath for giving unverifiable chart in the book and promoting a yoga creating the tunnel vision instead of showing a broader picture to recognize the life patterns first thing first when u look at a chart look at trine lords and there strength soul enters from fifth house with merits and demerits from past life traveles to 1st house and exits from 9th house to next life kind regs jiger shah - Wendy Vasicek Thursday, August 25, 2005 4:41 AM jyotish-vidya Re: planets in consecutive houses Dear Angel, Here is some more information gleaned from one of my reference books...
