Guest guest
Dear list members, I am sorry that the message went without a subject heading. This is a lengthy email but requires answers. Would learned members and astrologers please clarify matters. Thank you David David Andrews <andrews635 wrote: Dear list members, I notice that delineation of a horoscope is done by way of Rasi charts as well as Bhava charts. This has led to a lot of confusion to me and I would not be surprised if others are also likewise confused. I have often wondered why talk of Bhava charts when Rasi Chart will suffice. I have often sought an answer to this question and have looked into books on astrology but they offer no clue. Most of the books take the Rasi chart to delineate a horoscope, whereas Dr. B. V. Raman' s book, "How to Judge a Horoscope" Bhava charts are used. The confusion became compounded when I had to deal with a debilitated planet in a chart and tried to see whether there is cancellation of debilitation. The debilitated planet is Jupiter in Capricorn. The dispositor of Capricorn is Saturn and it is posited there. If the dispositor is in a quadrant from either Lagna or the Moon, then cancellation of debilitation results. Unfortunately, Moon is in Virgo and therefore there is no nexus between Moon and the dispositor of the debilitated planet. If I were to take the Bhava chart cancellation of debilitation results as Moon is in Libra and the dispositor where Jupiter is debilitated is in a quadrant to the Moon. Notice here the movement of planets between the Rasi and Bhava charts. If one were to take the aspects of planets from both these charts, the effect in each case would be different and would bring about conflicting results I would appreciate if learned members help clarify in which cases Rasi and Bhava charts are used so as to dispel the confusion once and for all. Thank you for patiently reading through this lengthy email. David Mail Stay connected, organized, and protected. Guest guest
Dear David, Thanks for bringing up this topic, which is little unclear to me as well and i haven't found any text clearly defining the scope of bhava chart. Hence i am jotting down my own interpretations below which i am sure will draw reactions from others. What is the difference between Rasi chart and Bhava Chart: We know that Zodiac is divided into 12 EQUAL houses of 30 degrees each and we also assume that each sign occupies one house. This is Rasi chart. However, the signs differ considerably from each other and they are not equally spread. Hence one sign may not perfectly "fit" into one house and may spread across some degrees more to the previous or next house. Bhava chart captures that accordingly ascertain the exact location of a planet in a house. Hence we find that, planets posited on the first and last few degrees of a sign may cross over to the previous or next house in Bhava chart. Accordingly, while interpreting a chart it is advisable to refer to Bhava chart as well in order to know the exact house position of a planet. But in all acclaimed writer's books including Dr.Raman's we have seen that Rasi chart has been looked into first and then Bhava Chart is referred to find further clue. Hence according to me, as we use varga charts as suppliments, we should similarly use bhava chart as a suppliment to the Rasi chart. Answering specifically to your queries, I would definitely judge aspects from Rasi chart. Same for cancellation of debilitation. However, if cancellation happens only in Bhava chart, i would say that the planet is overall not very badly placed and will not give very bad results.
