Guest guest
Hi, hope ye are all well and that this apparent silence does not mean anything. Was just wondering why some authours say for Capricorn that the sun is a functional malefic whereas the moon should be benefic. Some also say Mars is malefic while others say Mars is actually benefic... I think I am a Capricorn rising and from the study I did on my dashas I actually think Mars has helped me a lot whereas the Moon has been my enemy, btu what is the right Benefics/Malefics setup for Capricorns???? Thanks a million! Rui Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.
Guest guest
Hi Again Rui, >From the Essentials of Vedic Astrology, by Komilla Sutton, she lists for Functional Benefics and Malefics: Planets that rule trine houses (1,5,9) are always benefic. Planets that rule the kendra houses (4,7,10) are benefic if they are natural malefics. Natural benefics ruling kendra houses become malefic. Planets that rule malefic houses (3,6,11) are always malefic. Rulers of the 2nd, 8th and 12th houses are functionally neutral. The planet that rules the ascendant is always benefic even if it rules a malefic house. In case of dual rulership of a sign, the planet acts like its mooltrikona sign. It's interesting in this text that she goes on to say the 8th house is the most difficult house in an example she gives. I'm just giving you the rules of functional benefic and malefic as they are listed. Looking at these rules above, and considering your chart with a Capricorn lagna Rui, Mars moolatrikona sign is in a kendra, so this would then make Mars a 'functional benefic'. To my thinking though, this is all quite complicated and involved as this Moolatrikona sign Aries, also is Saturn, lagna lord's place of neecha and Mars is an enemy to Saturn... But from this standpoint of functional benefic and malefic, Mars would be benefic. Mars is also strong in your chart with respect to being in own house Scorpio. Moon would here be listed as a malefic from the above rules due to a benefic ruling the 7H, a kendra. I'm not sure how one interprets the fact that the wanning Moon is considered a natural malefic... you also have a wanning Moon. Perhaps some of the confusion... From considering your wanning Moon as a natural malefic, then this 7H ownership would make Moon a benefic. The chart must always be considered as a whole. Perhaps others could give a better response on this as for my consideration it is not just this clear as the above rules would say for a complete judging for each planet. Perhaps it is just another aspect whether functional benefic or malefic to take into consideration. In your chart, from the time I have of 18:30, although your Moon is in exaltation, your Moon is in severe Sandhi, at 00:36 degrees. Also owning this 7H, a maraka house. It's interesting Rui, to read your actual experiences with these planets. I hope someone who is more expert and experienced in this judgement for functional benefics and malefics will help us out here and at least clarify the differences caused by a waxed Moon - natural benefic, and a wanning Mooon - natural malefic. ;-) Best wishes, Patrice _________ Hi, hope ye are all well and that this apparent silence does not mean anything.
