I'm rather new to astrology, and putting my foot in the water

tentatively. I'm looking for a good astrologer locally, and was

hoping people here could tell me:

1. What do you look for in an astrologer?

2. How do you tell a good one from a bad one?

3. Why do you go to an astrologer in the first place?

4. What really appeals to you in astrology?

5. Why Vedic over other forms of astrology?

6. What are the web-sites of some good astrologers?

Thanks for your help.

Rajinder,

Thanks for your reply. I was surprised to see you said a bad

astrologer would suggest ways to avoid one's forcast. I thought this

was one of the main points most modern astrologers were pushing, such

as Swami Sri Yukteswar.

Please anybody else jump in and respond to my questions. I'm not

looking for expert opinions, per se, just some feedback from a number

of people.

Rajinder, why is there no good astrologers on the web?

Imagine you are through the highway at night. You have

been driving for hours and is very tired. Your eyes

occationaly closes. Suddenly the good friend wakes you

up and warns "Be carefull you are going for a head on

collision if you drive like this"

Similarly you were driving through the contry roads

heading for some unfamiliar place. Half way through

you realised you lost your way. The nice person on the

road tells you "You should have taken the other road

25 miles behind, But you may take a deviation here and

you will reach the correct road"

If you go to a doctor with severe back ache he can do

several things

(1) submit for a exhaustive tests, X-Rays, Scans and

may even find a bad joint

(2) he can say whever happened is happened . I cant do

anything. You are stuck with this

(3) He can explain the problem and suggest simple

remedies (the only needed) like changing the sitting

position, driving habits etc

(4) he can do the above and give some additional

medicines to reduce swelling etc.

(5) He can simply go on giving you further tests,

medicines even do surgeries

Decide yourself what you require and who shall have

your respect/faith/confidence.

Thank you Babu that was a good simile. I guess one of the extra

problems is when you start falling asleep at the wheel you might even

forget for a moment where it was you were going...
