Guest guest
Dear Sam, I might be able to help you with this because I have this in my rashi > I would appreciate if anyone could help me understand a few > fundamental questions that are unclear to me. > > If a planet for eg. Jupiter being a first rate becomes a functional > Malefic for a chart. How would one read the effects of Jupiter. > Would it by his inherent nature expand the Malificiance of the houses > where he aspects and would he by being a functional malefic taint the > planets that he cojoins/aspects. Or the other scenario where by his > inherent benefic nature despite being a functional malefic would > reduce the malificiance of the houses that he aspects and expand the > qualities of the planets he aspects and cojoins ? Jupiter is a functional malefic for my chart as I am a Capricorn lagna. Jupiter is lord of the 3rd and 12th. Jupiter is exalted and in the 7th making a full gega kesari with Moon in the 1st. Although Jupiter is a wonderful planet for my chart, his results always include time to go inward and be quiet, the 12th and my include a minor illness the 3rd. It always brings inspiration and may also give over optimism as when I bought a stock while Jupiter transited the lord of my 5th and I did not sell while it was up, as I assumed it would get better. Still, Jupiter in the 7th has always manifested as very intelligent partners but it does not bring great desire for or success in marriage. This is not for lack of opportunity, but from a deep spiritual sense of the cost of being married in terms of freedom. This is a 12th house connotation. BTW I am and have been in a very happy partnership for 5 years, so it is not for lack of ability to commit as one might assume with Jupiter in the 7th. On the same token > how would one study a planet like Mars , being a malefic planet by > inherent nature is a functional benefic how would he act in a chart ? He will produce quick and powerful results. For those with Mars as a friend to the chart, the transit of Mars through Scorpio should be very beneficial dependant upon the house. BTW if it is a friend, it will be in a Dharma house. I have Saturn as a friend to my chart and while its results are slow and take me deep, Saturn has always proven to give clarity, truth and success. It is exalted and in my 10th. The best career periods are SAturn subperiods. SAturn transits bring me as much work as I can physically do and I need to take care not to over extend. Last year, Saturn transited my Sun, lord of the 8th and I had no serious illness nor were there any deaths. The Sun is in my 4th and while the transit was exact, the opportunity appeared to purchase the home where we have lived for 3 years. There were delays, but the contract is ready whenever the seller gets one form filed for her estranged spouse. (Saturn can bring delays even when a func benefic) > > How would one study the above scenario if the planets are in a state > of Exaltation or Debilitation ? > > When gurus, jyotisha write that a planet X is afflicted by malifics > like Saturn, Mars etc what would that mean in respect to a scenario > if Saturn were to own 9th and 10th house for that matter or if Mars > were to be a YogaKaraka ... would one still say that a planet is > *Afflicted* by Mars and Saturn ? No, empowered by it if the sign is favorable. If the sign is not favorable, even yoga karaka can bring difficulty because he is the planet most accentuated in the life of the native. Yoga karaka, by definition is a great friend to the chart, but one must still deal with the difficulty shown by the sign placement. EX: Mars in Cancer may really struggle with early childhood issues that need to be cleared before clear and direct action can be taken with success, otherwise, he would be more self destructive. > > Thanking All, > Ash Sam > > > Join Vedic Astrology Chat Room Free! > http://www.sonipat.com > > > Vedic Astrology- > > OM TAT SAT > > >
Guest guest
Dear Ash Sam, your question is a good one that I find confuses all of my students. The natural benefic or malefic nature of a planet is most important. Simply stated, benefics given, malefics take... The temporal benefic or malefic nature of the planets indicates more the motivation of the planet. So Saturn for Taurus, if it is in the 5th house for instance, will harm the possibilites of children as much as for Scorpio lagna. Jupiter in the 11th aspecting the 5th will promote children as much for Libra when he owns the 3rd and 6th house as he will for Scorpio where he rules the 5th and 2nd house. But for libra more effort (3rd house) and possiblity touble or debt (6th house) will be required. Hope that gives you a basic idea. If you want to learn more about the house lords you refer you to my book available on my website, In the book I have written extensively on that including the effects of each planet for each lagna. Better yet, for a free fix, download our Kaala software demo and go to the deleniations page under the YOGAS menu where at the end the effects of every house lord for the lagna under consideration is given.
