Guest guest
Thanks Visti, Thanks a lot for your words of wisdom. I can find a lot of information given by you here. I shall try use it slowly. Since I am a beginner in Astrology, I have not used Astottari Dasa. I shall read up on it and try it as well (Can you recommend any book on this please) There are some concerns about the career aspects in this chart starting Oct 2000. Can you see any thing from the Chart. Some hints on the issue would help. Thanks again for your help. Cheers Ashok - Visti Larsen Vedic Astrology Wednesday, December 20, 2000 11:32 PM Sv: [Vedic Astrology] Dasa applicability (was 3 plants exalted) Om Krishna Guru >Your comments that Lagna is stronger than Chandra Lagna are quite accurate. I suspect that Lagna is to be used to calculate the Vimsottari Dasa in this case. Can you >please shed some light please. There are actually 3 rules used primarily for Vimshottari Dasa applicability in natal chart analysis: 1. Lagna Nakshatra (Lagna) 2. Jamna Nakshatra (Chandra Lagna) *3. Utpanna Nakshatra (5th Nakshatra from Moon)* * I don't use this but its worth checking* I use Jaimini rules: The strengths are like this: 1. Atmakaraka is stronger 2. More planets is stronger. 3. Aspect of Jupiter, Mercury own lord or Atmakaraka is stronger. 4. Grahas in the respected sign have stronger power(exal, ownsign). 5. Dual sign > Fixed sign > Movable sign. 6. Grahas have more advanced degree. * Your Chart * Lagna has Atmakaraka thus it wins. So Vimshottari Dasa should be calculated from Ascendant Degree. Note that just because Vimshottari Dasa doesn't seem to add up with ur events doesn't mean that it will be more acurate otherwise. Vimshottari Dasa is the most Versatile Dasa, thus everyone can use it. But other Nakshatra based Dasa systems have guidelines on when and how to use. Heres an example of Astottari Dasa; If Rahu is in Lagna, or in trines from Lagna lord, then Astottari Dasa should be used. The dasa will be most appropriate for those who were born in day on Krishna Paksha(Waning moon) or Night in Shukla Paksha(Waxing moon). Now my theory for why this becomes applicable? Well Astottari Dasa only uses 8 Grahas, discluding Ketu. Ketu is the Graha that leads us to Moksha, and people influnced by Ketu's counterpart, Rahu, become more inclined towards materialistic deeds. Note that this is not a way of deciding whether the person will achieve Moksha. Also the Pakshas indicate the strength of Jupiter and Venus(the two gurus). Jupiter as Guru makes the events percieved with more Sattwic inclination, whereas Venus makes them Rajasic. Venus achieves strength during the denoted Pakshas of Astottari Dasa. Your Chart; You have Rahu in Lagna, so Astottari Dasa should be used. Also You were born at night(2 hours before sunrise) during Shukla Paksha, thus Venus becomes stronger and Astottari Dasa should be used. Conclussion; So now you may ask if you should calculate this from Moon or Lagna degree? Try both and see. But can I know please what all goes to determine this strength. I agree this point is very important in determining whether Moon to be used for Vimsottary dasa or Lagna position. In examining the following chart, I find that Dasa/ Bhuki periods do not really conform to the past periods. I suspect that Lagna is to be used to calculate the Vimsottari Dasa in this case. Can you please shed some light please. Date of Birth: 3 April 1952 Time of Birth: 4.00 am ( This is approx only and may need rectification) Place of Birth: Delhi India 28N40, 077E13 This information may also help to rectify the time of the birth as a small change in time would change the Dasa period dramatically. Thanks for your reply. Regards Ashok - Visti Larsen Vedic Astrology Sunday, December 17, 2000 11:14 PM Sv: [Vedic Astrology] 3 Planets in Exaltation Om Krishna Guru Yes she has 3 planets exalted in good divisions however; Lagna and 8th lord undergo Parivartan(exchange) which is bad for the health, however good for occultism. Saturn and Rahu in 8th house conjunct could pose some problems with happiness, but i won't go into detail with that. 6th lord Mercury is in 1st house, which could pose health problems, but this is all very basic, lets analyze the Dasa's! Lagna is stronger than Chandra Lagna, thus Dasa's are calculated from Lagna degree. Vimshottari Dasa of Ra-Su-Ra is running. Rahu is in 8th house, with lagna lord. This can be quite fatal, and bring near death experiences. I say near death, because 8th lord is with exalted Mars. Also Saturn is Maraka(owning 2nd house). Sun is 8th lord, and being with 4th and 6th lord poses obstacles and maybe even end of education. By judging Argalas to Sun, we find; Moon who is Chara Guru-karak, gives argala to Sun and Mars, so the reason maybe due to the teacher.. But lets get more detailed; * Education * We look to D-24 for education. Lagna in D-24 is Cp. Rahu and Ketu are in 4th house inhibiting the educational persuit alot. And Antar Dasa Sun is in 12th house, with 5th lord and Chara Putrakarak, making this a bad time for friends, and popularity in general. Again Sun recieves Argala from Moon, and also 9th lord Mercury, showing that the teacher is indeed involved. Being that Moon recieves the most severe Papakartari Yoga it shows that the teacher is unable to be off service, due to his wife; (Jupiter giving Argala on Mercury and Moon and being 7th lord from 9th house.) * Health * D-6 and D-30 will show health problems, but i'm gonna neglect D-30 in fear of acuracy of birth time. Maha Dasa lord is in 8th house with Ketu, showing the potential for health problems. Both Lagna Co-lords (Rahu and Saturn) are in Dusthanas which shows the problems with health. Sun being 7th lord and in Lagna shows that the person has become aware of her health, from other people. The aspects of Saturn, 6th lord, Mars and Me, on 4th house show the problem its posing on her education. * Married life * In Rasi 7th lord is exalted and Retro-Jup is exalted in 7th house. Retro Jup, would show that there are Karmic Debts involved in the persons marriage life. Saturn and Rahu's occupation of 2nd from 7th house, is quite bad for the longevity of spouse. Rahu and Saturn are in Maraka houses from Upapada.. and Upapada is in 2nd from Lagna, along with Maraka Lord being in 12th from Upapada. This looks like either her or her spouse will undergo a dramatic death, during marriage. But yes she will be married. Hope you've been given a good picture, as how to judge the rest of the chart.
