Guest guest
In some charts, planetary positions are stronger if reckoned from the lagna than the Moon (chandra lagna). Specially when, greater number of planets are powerfully placed in quadrants(kendaras) from ascendant than the Moon. Similarly when shubh-Dhurudhar, shubh-Adhi or such combination is constituted with respect to lagna, and when lord of Moon sign or nakshatra is weaker than the lagna lord. Then, the transit from natal Moon does not yield significant result, instead transit with respect to natal ascendant proves very effective. In the light of AshtakaVarga the gochar phalam from natal Moon, is not identical to gochar phalam from natal ascendant. For example, we all know that transit Saturn, Jupiter and Mars are bad in 1st from the Moon (ie. when they transit over the natal Moon). Although this is not true in case of transit from the lagna, as their sojourn in 1st house from the ascendant are auspicious! The table given, lists the transit result w.r.t radical ascendant (janma lagna), as per Varahamihira. (Rahu/Ketu's A.V are not given in Brihata Jataka, but other classics mentioned them). Guest guest
Dear Imran, Namaskar, Your inference is correct.Though most of the classics lay emphasis on seeing transits from the Moon sign, the famous treatise "VIDYA MADHAVEEYA" approves interpreting transits from ascendant. An effective balancing of transits from the ascendant and the Moon sign will go a long way in giving uncanny predictions.
