Maybe that person didn’t know what Chara Karakas were, and was blowing

steam.

 

I’m

glad you enjoy the discussions. That was a somersault wasn’t it?

 

So I guess

your real questions is; “how much free will do we have”. To answer

this go through each of the houses, and figure out how much control you have

over that particular area of life.

Example:

1st house – appearance,

health, body, name – except for the fact that you can change your name,

you cannot really control any of these.

2nd house – food, money,

family, speech – we can to some extent control what we say, but not how

we say it, whilst the food and money is conditioned by other forces. Obviously

we cannot control our family.

3rd house – siblings,

weapons, communications, copulation – except for siblings we can control

the rest.

 And so on. The result should be that only

the Upachaya houses stand out as those houses we can control – and hence

are under our free will. So that would give us 33% free will and 66%

circumstances.

Now to take it one step further. The

planets/yoga’s in the upachaya houses are the places where God will test

you. The test is to see what you will do this time around! This is really the true

essence of free will.

 

Once you ponder over this fact, you get an

idea that there really is very little free will...

What I like in this forum is the mental

planet less. I would

have liked it to be in 3rd. (Can you comment?)

I was beginning to think that if spiritual sadhana

is intensified it

could "blow up karmic structures".

Probably there are limitations

there.

But what is most depressing is what i read up

while trying to find

what chara karakas were. The quote went something

like this-

"To one person the answer appears as clear as

day; to another,

shadowy as twilight; to a

third, dark as night.

There are two paths to gain deeper understanding.

The first path is

to find an experienced teacher from whose

knowledge, wisdom and

experience one may gain. The other is by regular

sadhana

and 'swadhyaya'. As you study more and observe the

principles at work

in actual life (charts), you will gain your own

insights. Both the

paths are valid as long as one is serious and

intellectually honest.

Intellectual honesty and critical study combined

with some sadhana

are most important if one adopts the second path

due to the

unavailability of a good teacher. The first path

is superior in a way

at least initially. The second is nearly as good

and is definitely

safer than resorting to one of the many self

proclaimed `gurus'.

But for either of these to happen your chart

should have the trikonas

(trines) and/or their lords in good place in the

rasi and/or navamsa

(can you guess why?)."

I do not think I have a good placement so far as

lord of Trikonas go.

So should I leave everything to darkness???

But there is something in me which refuses to give

in so easily.

Let's hope I can strenghten that!!!
