Dear Visti,

yes such tendencies are strong in me as I know myself and

yes I am a disciple of a highly qualified Guru. However, at present

I am in a state of strange transition - between the opposing pulls

of the eternal and the external if you know what I mean. Can I get

out of this rut and follow my spiritual path in right earnest? I

hope I am able enough to be able to. I am not concerned about

whether I will reach my goal in this life. I am only concerned that

I dont deviate from my path and also I do perform all my material

responsibilities with God's grace. Any more light from you is very

welcome. However, I highly appreciate your effort and ability and

also your kindness to take time for an unknown person.

Dear Vistiji,

I too am interested in the same question, i.e., how much spiritual

progress I will make in this birth. I too am a beginner in astrology

but don't want to take it too seriously - only as a guide to what I

should avoid - what should I conciously try to strengthen. Somebody

said that charts are not written in stone and if one directs one's

concious energy in bringing about change in a direction in which one

aspires to go - this is possible (free will again?).

I would be particularly interested to know the influence of rahu and

mars in my chart. Also how their MDs are going to be from the

perspective of spiritual growth.

Dear Sourav,

The

transition i pointed out to you before. Its a change of ideals from Mars to

Venus – this occurs in your chart, as they both occupy the same degree,

and we call this Chara Karaka replacement. Mars was earlier the Bhratri Karaka,

which other than siblings, also deals with ones spiritual advisor or spiritual

direction. Earlier Mars was the spiritual direction, but now its becoming Venus

and hence the so-called “rut”.

You will not

be able to get out of the so-called rut, point is that this change is much more

helpful for your Atma’s purpose in this world. Whatever we do, we cannot

escape that purpose, and that is what is happening to you at present.

And yes these

things go on, on an internal level and hence the feeling of a “strange”

transition.

This would be

a good time for you to learn the methods of Rajya Yoga, as given in the Gita.

Dear Visti,

thank you for further opinion. Yes The divine doesn't

reveal itself without struggle on our part. So there is no escaping.

With what you indicate, I perhaps will feel less restless and not

think about escaping this struggle in the coming years because of

Venus, the Saumya graha.

May I ask two other question:

(1) Is Venus (direct) considered combust when with Sun? I ask this

because in all literature I find that this is what they say. But I

found that Pt. Sanjay Rath commented in one of his web articles that

Venus, unlike other planets, is not considered combust when in

conjunction with Sun only when it is 'direct'. If it is retrograde,

then only it may be considered combust. What is your opinion and

what reference would you give for that?

(2) I have three retrograde planets, JuR, SaR, MaR in my chart. I am

aware that there is a lot of controversy regarding what exactly

retrograde means. I am curious as to what the stand of SJC is in

this matter and what is indicated by so many retrogrades?

I too am interested in the same question, i.e.,

how much spiritual

progress I will make in this birth. I too am a

beginner in astrology

but don't want to take it too seriously - only as

a guide to what I

should avoid - what should I conciously try to

said that charts are not written in stone and if

one directs one's

concious energy in bringing about change in a

thank you for further opinion. Yes The divine doesn't

reveal itself without struggle on our part. So

there is no escaping.

With what you indicate, I perhaps will feel less

restless and not

think about escaping this struggle in the coming

years because of

Venus, the Saumya graha.

May I ask two other question:

(1) Is Venus (direct) considered combust when with

Sun? I ask this

because in all literature I find that this is what

they say. But I

found that Pt. Sanjay Rath commented in one of his

web articles that

Venus, unlike other planets, is not considered

combust when in

conjunction with Sun only when it is 'direct'. If

it is retrograde,

then only it may be considered combust. What is

your opinion and

Dear Sameer,

I remember a

chart, where Guruji saw a Chara Karaka replacement occurring and one of the

planets involved were in the 3rd house (or was it 11th),

but he said that a change was occurring and the native was given the

opportunity to influence this change. Now because the resultant change was

negative for the horoscope, Guruji inferred that the native failed the task at

hand – off course he inferred this after the event had happened.

So as far as Chara

Karaka’s are involved, we aren’t really interested in them unless a

change is occurring – i.e. a replacement.

Similarly as far as other Bhävas are

involved, when their lords are placed in the upachaya, and certain Yoga’s

are occuring, we are given the opportunity to enhance or dehance the effects. Making

a mathematical model is just something beginners should look at and later

learnt to be more flexible as time moves forward.

see the relationship between 9th lord and Jupiter. A bad

relationship makes it hard to approach or even get a Guru.

Once you’ve

seen that – look at the 9th house from Jupiter to see if there
