Hi Gili,

 

Sorry I wasn't able to revert earlier, but I was vacationing in Sudan :)

Not that I'm an expert in such stuff but my impression is that Varahamihira

conveyed 'poor' in the poverty sense.

Others more learned may hold a different view. Chandrashekhar is having a shubhaargala on me!

Also, Dear Mr Ramapriya,Could 'poor' refer to not needing much money or lack of

interest in making more money than basic needs require? Layla is generous with

her money and time but not interested in amassing wealth or possessions. She is

fiercely independent and takes money from her parents as if she is doing us a

big favour in doing so :))Love,Gili
