I presume that you meant to ask me why I had recommended the worship of Hanuman and not that of Sri Nrisimha Deva. In that case, well, here is the logic. If you had not meant any such thing, then please ignore the following. First thing is that Hanuman is an incarnation pertaining to Tretayuga, which is a later yuga, while, Nrisimha Avatara pertains to Krita yuga, so Hanuman couldn’t have really killed Hiranya Kashyapa!! Jokes apart (can never resist one, u know how much I love to laugh!), though the purpose and nature of both incarnations is different, still there is a similarity. Both are worshipped to propitiate Mars. If you happen to look at the idol of Panchamukhi-Anjaneya, you would notice that one of the 5 faces is that of Nrisimha. Lord Nrisimha is an incarnation of Vishnu born to restore order in the world and reinforce the fact that Vishnu is “sarva-vyapaka” or omnipresent. Ofcourse, it is also to bless Prahlada and kill Hiranyakashyapa. This supremely violent form & uncontrollable malefic temper of Ugra Narasimha were a one-time measure for annihilating an astute asura, and should not be invoked at all for ordinary purposes. Instead, Nrisimha should be worshipped in his more saatwik and controlled but equally powerful aspects, as Lakshmi Narasimha or Yoga Narasimha (This is true of all ugra Devatas). Usually in our part of the world, unless Nrisimha is one’s kuladevata, His worship is not routinely conducted in the home, like that of Varaha avatara. Sri Rama is also another incarnation of Vishnu, equally powerful in a different way and is a much more milder and approachable aspect than that of Nrisimha. In India, more so in Andhra Pradesh, protection is always “Sri Rama Raksha” and Hanuman is an integral part of that Divine Protection as much as Rama Naamam (name of Rama) and Rama BaaNam (arrow of Rama). As a disciple & devotee of Sun (Sun god and Sri Rama) & and incarnation of Rudra (Mars), Hanuman is the natural choice to fight/defeat the forces of the Dark. Anjaneya is supposed to be a chiranjeevi (an immortal) and the specific task given to him is that he must protect all those who take the name of “Rama”, which is the ideal combination of ashtakshari and panchakshari. Chanting this one name alone, is said to yield positive power equal to chanting the entire Vishnu sahasranaamam. And, in his own right, Hanuman is a popular griha devata, because his stupendous strength (physical as well as spiritual) is tempered by his great humility, knowledge, wisdom and bhakti. It is also because of his ability to bring / bind people together and protect the sanctity of the marriage/home. Was he not the most instrumental in bringing Sita and Rama together, after virtually cleaning out the demon infested Lanka? Had he not resurrected Lakshmana by bringing Sanjivani? Infact, in almost every place in India, especially in south, be it a city, or town or a tiny village, the worship of Hanuman is as much mandatory as the worship of gramadevata, for keeping away evil spirits and protecting the natives. Why talk of us….Lord Krishna Himself wanted the Hanuman to stay atop the the flagmast in Mahabharata war, to ensure protection and victory for Dharma and Pandavas …..
