Guest guest
Dear All, It is NOT Bandhanaama, it can't be grammatically. it is as following: urvaarukamiva [urvaarukam [A particular fruit] + iva [Like] ] This is made of 'sandhi' of two different words urvaarukam & iva bandhanaat [From Bandhan ] & so on, with slight attempt, you may break it in each ingredient word & meaning is very clear! regards, Pankaj Chandrashekhar [boxdel] Tuesday, April 13, 2004 1:11 AM Re: [sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] Re: Mahamrityunjaya Mantra & Serious DaughterQuery Dear Dharmakesin / Mihir Chaya, It is bandhanaama. Guest guest
Dear Pankaj, Voya, and Chandrashekar, Thank you for the information on the Mahamrityunjaya mantra. You inspired me to look into my Sanskrit Primer and I found the following (ITRANS format): k T t p when followed by initial n or m, may, and in practice almost invariable do, become the corresponding nasals ~N N n m "A Sanskrit Grammer for Students" by Arthur MacDonell. Chapter II, section 39. So ba.NdhanAt mrtyo changes final t to nasal n. Since it is final nasal n there is no "a" sound and it merges with the following m sounding like ba.NdhanAn mrtyo. This means that you are all correct and also agrees with Sri Karunamayi recording and also explains why the t is sometimes transcribed as an n.
