Dear Viswanadham,

Hare Rama Krsna!

>Later on, when i thought about it, the issue of Ayanamsa came up in my

>mind. Long back when i had my horoscope done in hand at my native town,

>Saturn was in Capricorn, which i threw away thinking it was wrong.

In India many of the old jyotishi in small towns and villages use

different ayanamsa from Lahiri. This is my experience also. Last year a

friend came to me with the question whether they will have a child, and

the lady who is born in a small village in the desert of Gujarat showed me

her chart drawn at the time of her birth by the local astrologer. Thus I

corrected her birthdate even as this was recorded wrongly by the

officials. Her mother still remembers the tithi of birth though and it was

correct. Then I saw that taking the first syllable of her name, which was

given according to astrology, the pandit must have used the Usha-sashi

ayanamsa, in order to get the Moon in the right pada. So that you had

Saturn in Capricorn in your native town's chart is not surprising. Do you

remember more details of that native's chart still, e.g. degrees were

noted?

You can see what differences it will make if you have either Jupiter or

Saturn as AK. OK, they would be in the same sign, so planetary infuences

will be same, but the basic nature of the planets is different. Saturn as

AK would make you more of a sad, very serious and in Sag. introverted and

scientific person. Jupiter would give you more of an optimistic, happy and

spiritual personality who likes to be social, a teacher, though you

appreciate also to be alone sometimes for meditating.

Besides, as you said, Saturn would be more indicative for your wife. Is

she older than you or of a very serious and mature disposition? All your

other charakaraka will also be changing. What do you think about this?

Yours,

Dhira Krsna dasa,

Jyotishi
