Guest guest
Dear Visti, Namaste. >Usually i find trouble with the position of the nodes position in >the charts, arising from the definition of the Mean Nodes. Does it look like they should be higher in degrees than the Lahiri calculation is giving? I also was reading a book on the nakshatras, which explains meaning of all planets including nodes in the different pada of each nakshatra and it looks like my ayanamsa calculation scores better. The reasoning I followed is that in Vedic times, the reference for the 0° Aries wasn't Chitra naksatra, but rather Revati naksatra, which was 10' before the 0 Aries point. Now the question is, where exactly was the star of Revati within the naksatra band of 13°20'? I accept 27° Pisces because that's the point of highest exaltation for Venus. Venus represents sex life, and this desire is fullfilled when Venus reaches the naksatra of Revati, which signifies the same (union). Thus I came to my calculation by taking the Sassanian ayanamsa, and subtracting 3° from it. Now we can experiment with it.... >As per Varahamihiras - Surya Siddhanta, the Nodes are to be calculated >with their mean progression from the end of Satya Yuga. Have you >experimented with this calculation? I don't have this book. Do you have a copy in electronic format? Also, the question is from the end of which Satya Yuga. We have gone through 28 already in this kalpa of Lord Brahma. Isn't it from the first? Quite difficult, since we do not even know exactly the start of this Kali Yuga. Personally I do not accept the date of 5,102 BC. I suppose it is about 1,200 years less. Check the 12th canto of Srimad Bhagavatam where the dynasties in the Kali yuga are enumerated. I believe we are in the period described in the verse where is mentioned the rule of Yavanas, followed by the rule of some number of Maula kings (the Gandhi dynasty?). I would look up the verse no., but I'm in a hurry now to go visit my father who is in hospital. It's the 2nd or 3rd chapter.
