Satyanarayana Pooja - Karthika Pournima and Lunar eclipse in Houston, USA - Doubt

I have a doubt about when to perform Satyanarayana Pooja on Karthika Pournima.

Pournima starts at 4:25 PM on Friday 7th November ( in Houston,Texas, USA) and

ends on Saturday around 7 PM on 8th November.

Lunar eclipse starts on Saturday 8th November at 4:!5 PM and continues till 10:00 PM the same night.

Can I perform the pooja on Friday after the tithi starts after 4:15 PM local time here.

Because if I prefer to do it on Saturday evening, then I would have to cook the

food during eclipse time(which is not preferred, I guess) and perform the pooja

also during eclipse time and finish it before 7 PM.

I am awaiting the guidance of elders in this regard.

Please advise.

I may have not been clear enough- better said, Nodes are not points, but shadowy

spaces and it can be`said that they symbolize the relationship of the Earth to

two lights- Sun and Moon. /Ecliptic reveals /geocentrically considered/

Earth/Sun relationship, Moon's orbit reveals Moon/Earth relationship, and nodal

axis ARE THE LINK between planes of these two orbits/

Dear Ramapriya,

Yes, it is possible. Solar eclipses occur when a New Moon falls within about 18

degrees of zodiacal longitude on either side of Rahu or Ketu. Few eclipses are

total /maximum number of solar eclipses in a year is 5- occurs once in 3

century/- most are partial and some annular /please see`Patrice's post, too/.

"eclipse year" is`interval between two successive annual conjunctions of Sun

and Rahu. So, rarely do we we have zero orb eclipse- eclipse orb is as

mentioned above.

Hi all,

 

Quite a few have mentioned that there'll be a solar eclipse on the 23rd. Unless

something is awry with what I've been taught or the ephemeris I'm using, I

can't see that happening. On the 23rd of November 2003, with Ke in Li and Su in

Sc, can someone more learned please explain how an eclipse is possible??
