Guest guest
Respected Gurus, i too want to know few things in regard to last rites ,kindly enlighten. we are not much aware of these rituals in regard to 'orphans'. suppose somebody has no known blood relations, in that case what can be done. somewhere i read a remark that one can perform own 'last rites' whileliving. is it possible ? where to find details ? also is it a valid thought ..advanse booking for after death results ?? one more important query in mind..what about females. in todays world many live a lonely life or suppose marry outside religion bt still they can have faith in ' hindu rituals'. also if a woman has nobody to perform last rites.. what she can do for not being trapped in ' pret yoni'. kindly clarify and give sources to get more information on the subject. also is it necessory to know ' gotra' for last rites too. how to know if it is not known already like in above mentioned cases of orphan etc. with thanks and best regards, triptika - Rao Nemani Vedic Astrology Group ; Achyuta Group Sunday, July 27, 2003 4:59 AM [sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] Last ritual/rites of Parents ? Hindus wont have any 'faiths', nor 'beliefs' if we understand the way how christians undestand these concepts. Conversion from one 'religion' to another, meant a rejection of one set of beliefs and practices(recall secular gospel: actions are embodiments of ones beliefs) and embracing another on grounds of TRUTH and FALSITY. That is, the believers not only believed in the *truth* of their beliefs, but it was also vital and necessary that beliefs were so believed. Christianity never understood Roman pagan traditions and Indic traditions after 1000 years of hiatus. Just lumped these into 'paganism', 'hinduism', 'buddhism', 'jainism' as false set of beliefs. beliefs and faiths are ingradients of these *ism-s, thanks to Indian education, but not for the practioners in our saampradaaya-s.
