Guest guest
Dear Alexandra, God is in every being is right. When the supreme knowledge, achievement of which is every sadhaka's aim; is sought one seeks the God within. This is enlightenment in the true sense. For those who have not achieved this state various dieties are symbols on whom one can concentrate one's mind to make it single pointed. Trataka is one such form of achieving the enlightenment. One who sees god in every one is the truly enlightened, and thus does not have to worship anyone to get enlightenment. With enlightnment the desires are gone. Others might interprete in different way. So can one reach enlightenment by worshipping any ordinary person as god/goddess? Does that only work with Avatars, or certain spiritual advanced persons like ones Guru? Or does that also work with commpletely ordinary persons? For instance Indian women in erlier times regarded their husbands as gods, and then there is also the worship of Devi in form of virginal girls.
