Dear Triptika,

I don't know much about graha pujas as I have never been too interested in them,

so the gurus on the list will answer this question for you. However, I may add,

that in the scheme of the planets representing the devis, Saturn represents

Kali. Also Amavasya is associated with Kali. The Saturn-Moon combination forms

Kalika Yoga. In Bengali folklore, Kali puja has always been associated with

Saturdays. If its Saturday, and Amavasya, then its considered perfect for Kali

puja. Maybe that is why Shani puja is performed in the Kali bari. Others will

give you the exact reason.

Best regards,

Sarbani

Achyuta Gurukul] Shani Pooja --bengali tradition ??

Dear Sarbaniji and gurus,

kindly help me in understanding the traditional Shani pooja

obsearved in different states. like in the Kali Bari in my area, tommorow there

is a special shani pooja. they say that every month there is a shani [baro

Thakur] pooja. if this month it is in darker half trhen next month it will fall

in brighter half. can you explain some thing regarding this ?

also,in Kerala, perhaps tommorow [ ? ]they are celebrating Shani's entry in

Mithuna rasi. why now ??

i am also eager to know more about "Shanaishcher jayanti".

in Kalnirnaya panchanga ,it is mentioned on 30 may.

one more question in some other reference --- what is 'Dhanu Navaka' .it is also

mentioned in panchanga twice as 'Aarambha' [22 may ]and 'Samapta' [ 31 may ].

thanking you for your precious time and help,
