Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Rakesh, Jupiter and Venus are two great benefics and are Satvic planets. The word parivatana means an exchange, so Venus will seem to be at home in her own house, and the same goes for Jupiter. Your question is not in the same vein. In the spirtual sense, I recall a story in the puranas that Venus went and did penance and Jupiter took over her students and taught them to be pure.Upon the return of her penance, she her devotees wnet back to their old ways. In the material sense, Venus denotes all things (wantonly) material, so they both are opposite of one another. Jupiter is always good and pure. He can never be contaminated. Now you can clearly see there are two sides of the coin to Venus especially when aspected (contaminated) by a malefic and in that sense, they would be enemies. I recal a saying from one satsang: "Even thieves and robbers love their children". Delve into this. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Shailesh, Rajas is the action of doing. It can be sattvic or tamasic. In the natural sign of Libra, it is Venus' official stand. The sign is denoted by "The Scale", so Venus tries to balance things in life. When you get a malefic aspect, the scale may tip more to the tamasic. Now, for Taurus, this is where she is "at home". In this context of malefic aspect, when one is relaxed and "at home", you may not neccesary want to do what you are supposed to do, possibly procrastinate and lay off the work which is pending or be at home and be a total couch potato etc. The sign Taurus (Venus here indicates Moon's daughter) is denoted by the "buffalo/cow" which is recommended as dakshina for certain rites that maybe required, so the preceptor (Guru) has to look after this "cow" on your behalf to take away those karmic blues. This action of our "doing" is rajasic (for our material happiness) and the result is sattvic.(Removal of bad karmic resonance). The fact of the matter is that Venus who tries to copy-cat Jupiter (exaltation in Pisces) may not necessarily be bad if no malefics aspect Venus. In this state, she remains the Moon's daughter of purity. We are always born pure until we learn to "speak" (Natural indications is Taurus, 2nd house) when later the mind (natural indications is the Moon and 4th) takes over. In our daily decisions, we automatically use our good judgement to weigh out the pros and cons (The sign Libra)....... hmm, somtething we take for granted...... so simple and yet so complex. Guest guest
Dear Swee, Venus is a benefic. But is a rajasik planet. This is as per Parashara's classification, who states Jupiter, Sun and Moon to be the satvik planets. This classification is adopted by other astrologers as well, as far as my knowledge goes. Guest guest
Hare Rama Krisna Rajas is the energy of activity/motion/creation. When it is time to sit rajas still moves. Tamas is slow/dull/destroying. when it is time to move tamas still sits. Satva is the balancing agent between the two. Sattva is moving when it is time to move, sitting when time to sit. Doing (action) can be satvic, tamasic OR rajasic. Both Venus and Jupiter are benefics, they will do good things. Jupiter is sattvic and knows when to do and exactly how much. Venus is rajasic and likes ‘to do’, so it will do even if not always needed. The rajas of Venus does not have to be a negative thing, it is the creative energy that makes great works of art. Jupiter can give sadhana with the mantra Aum and take you to moksa. Venus can give you elaborate pujas, images and visualizations to use all your senses (plus) to take you to moksa. Venus is exalted in Jupiters sign where she knows exactly how much she needs and what is excess. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Sarbani, Thank you for pointing out the nature of Venus which is of course, Rajasik. I gave an example within the context of the parivatana between Jupiter and Venus and the signs Taurus and Pisces which can possibly make Venus' nature to be sattvic. Being misunderstood. Sorry for that. love, Swee p/s I don't seem to be getting most of the messages these past weeks. swee (AT) brihaspati (DOT) net www.brihaspati.net Sarbani Sarkar [sarbani (AT) (DOT) org] Friday, May 23, 2003 9:30 AM RE: [sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] Parivartana of Non-MT signs Dear Swee, Venus is a benefic. But is a rajasik planet. This is as per Parashara's classification, who states Jupiter, Sun and Moon to be the satvik planets. This classification is adopted by other astrologers as well, as far as my knowledge goes. Remember Venus is asura guru...
