You gave us a lovely place to put things. How can ignorant souls argue about God and His eternal nature? Surely it is all His leela, whether Shiva, Ganesh, Vishnu, etc. In my opinion it is fine for Lord Chaitanya or any of the Great Acharyas to "argue" on the scriptures and the supremacy of His path. We are devotees and we all take the path that He has ordained for us. Even those who ignore Him are His devotees. Even those who commit all the transgressions belong to Him and will turn their mind to Him when he ordains that. If we are on the "wrong" path and have "wrong" understanding, then one day the correct teaching will come to us because of purity of heart and not from intellectual knowledge. In the meantime, we should humbly do as you so beautifully put it. "Let the Lord grant Gyana, Bhakti and Vairagya to the devotees... " and forgive all of us for our ignorance. These arguments reminds me of the fragile human condition when it comes to religion. We are capable of acts of violence against one another in the name of God and this has always made me very sad. We use God's name to promote our own cause but what is the psychology behind that kind of behavior? We do this out of ignorance and not out of supreme knowledge. We do it out of ego distortion and not out of understanding. When I became a Krishna bhakta, I had found the ultimate philosophy from my own point of view and I became a little judgmental of other paths... thinking they were lesser. I soon learned that this was wrong and this was arrogance. God is taking care of all of us and manifests in our lives in a way that is perfect for us in our journey. We don't have a clue. We are clueless when it come to God. We are very ignorant and all our scriptural quotes do not change us one bit or make us more holy. I have often thought that a person who has chosen to walk this life as an atheist must be a very courageous soul. Can you imagine? And can this happen without His ordination? I think not. We do not know the lessons so how can we know the answers. I am very happy that He is knowable and unknowable. The times in my life when I though I knew the answers, even according to some scripture, I was most impoverished. It was ego and intellectual knowledge. The intellect is like a parrot. It keeps repeating the same old thing.... heartless words. I prefer the path of the heart for surely that is where He is to be found, where He is to be experienced. It is the only knowledge I trust anymore and that knowledge is hard to put into words. He is not to be found in words but kind words, words that describe His leelas, bring us all closer to Him and awaken the heart. Harsh words make us defensive and angry and then we can be sure that He is not present.
