Hi all,

There was a sjc delhi meeting yesterday , and the topic was “upapada”. There

were 5 students, sarbani, rohini ji, saroj ji, suneet ji, & myself prashant. We

discussed 3-4 charts, analysed their married life , mutual compatibility, tried

to time separation & next marriage.

A few points that we discussed.

planets in upapada will show the kind of spouse, there was rahu in one of the

examples, which indicated lower qualities of spouse. Another person had mercury

in upapada, his spouse is creative .

Sarajit: While this is true, the influence of Rahu show that the spouse can be

of different culture. Along with this, do check up the aspects on the UL. With

Kind of Spouse, you meant, the "Nature and Qualities of the Spouse", I guess.

 

Sarbani: Rahsi drishti of Sun and Mercury in Cancer from the 6th. Sun is 7th

lord. Graha drishti of Mars from the 7th.

 

Didn't you check, where is UL placed wrt the lagna of the native. This has

manything to say on the role of spouse in the life of the native and few more

things.

 

Sarbani: UL is placed in the 10th for the chart under discussion. Where can we

find details about the effects of different house placements of UL from Lagna?

Lord of upapada: its strength & location . it shouldn’t b e in 8 house, if in

9th house as it was in one of the examples, then wife will be religious.

Sarajit: Lord of the Spouse has many things to say about the family of the

Spouse. If the lord is deb/ exalted then the family will be a poor/ well to do

family. The relationship of the Lord with the UL shall show, the relationship

of the spouse with the family. If the lord of UL is in the 9th from the Lagna,

there would be very condusive relationship of the spouse family with the

native. Wife would be religious if religious planets apects or placed in the

UL... Do consider AL as well...

 

Sarbani: The lord is placed in the 7th in Maranakaraka Sthana. In lagna there is

a retro Jupiter. And Mars is 11th from AL. What does this show?

>From 2nd house , we see longevity of marriage. Ju, mo, sun are considered to

be good for marriage longevity. In one of the examples there was no planet in

2nd from up, its lord was retrograde, the house was aspected by a malefic, but

the lord was aspected by a benefic.

Sarajit: Among Malefics, Rahu is the most diabolical as it can eclipse both Jup

or Sun. It is aspecting or associating with the 2nd from UL without any benefic

influence, then there is danger to married life.

 

Sarbani: Rahu in UL will give its 12th aspect on the 2nd from UL, won't it? And

that will ruin the married life? There is also aspect of Saturn on the 2nd from

UL.

We tried to time divorce in a case by transit of malefics & jupitor , their

aspect on 2nd from up.

Sarajit: Transit Jup's aspect on 2nd from UL, shall make the bond stronger and

will not give divorce.

 

Sarbani: This is what we discussed at length. Although Saturn is aspecting the

2nd from UL (the 11th) from the 5th now. For your benefit (Birth data and name

witheld on request): Asc: Aq. with (Jup), 4th: Ketu, 5th: Venus, Saturn, 6th:

Mercury, Sun, 7th: Mars, 10th: Rahu, 12th: Moon. AL: Libra, UL: Scorpio, AK:

(Jup).

 

There were some doubts.

*If someone is not happy with the marriage , then their divorce will be caused

by malefics or transit of benefics?

 

Sarajit: Transiting benefics would not cause divorce.

we coulnd’t find spouse’s lagna in one of the charts from trines of ul, nor 7th

from it , or the sign its lord is in (as per COVA which we were following)

..

Sarajit: In such cases, the relationship will not be harmonious. In such charts

look for affliction to 2nd from UL. If there were influence of Benefics on the

2nd from UL, then ultimately the native gets one spouse, whose Lagna shall fall

in trine to his/ her own UL.

 

Along with trine, check the 7th from UL and Paka Upapada Lagna.

 

What about benefics which are functional malefics, lord of 8th house in

context to 2nd from up.

 

Sarajit: Take the Natural Benefics and Malefics only in this context.
