from family tradition, what i know is --this finger represent 'Ahamkara'[Ego],

so it is excluded in puja process where total surrender is primary

requirement.

Jupiter is also karaka for ' superiority'[ Guru Tatva/ gurutva] and also 'Gyana'

[knowledge] & 'Tarka' [ logic] while 'Bhakti'

can not be attained with 'logic' -- one can be a ' Gyan Yogi' or ' Karma Yogi '

but not ' Bhakti Yogi '.

hope this looks logical..

[sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] Jupiter & Index finger

Om Gurave NamahNamaste Guruji,I am puzzled by the paradox of Jupiter lording

index finger, since this finger is expressly excluded in all japa rituals. Can

someone clarify?Regards,Lakshmi[Om Kleem Krishnaaya Jagannathaaya namah]Send a

Om Gurave Namah

Namaste Friends,

Thanks for your responses. While I got to understand why "tarjani" is

considered inauspicious, my basic doubts about reasons for Jupiter's

lord ship of index finger still persist.

Could it be that index finger as a "pointer" gives the ability to

distinguish and the ability to judge…remember the Hamsa's (Swan's)

legendary ability to separate water from milk? Hence Jupiter's

lordship?

BTW, Swee, I am eagerly awaiting your response to Gurudeva's question.

Regards,

Lakshmi
