Om Gurave Namah

Dear Frank,

To qoute Guruji Pt. Sanjay Rath,

There are four methods of reckoning time:

A) SATURN - Yama Dharmaraja(LMT)

1 Ahoratra

8 Yama of 3 horas each

1 Yama

2 Yamardha or Kaala (short for Mahakaala) of 1Hr 30 mts each

This follows 6 AM to 6 AM and not Sunrise (Typical of saturn)

B) Jupiter - Muhurtha

1 Ahoratra

30 Muhurta

1 Muhurta

30 Kashtha

1 kashtha

30 kalaa

1 kalaa

18 Nimesha (winks) [Thus 1 Nimesha is about 0.211 sec each]

C) Venus - Nakshatra nadika

1 Ahoratra

60 Ghati (North) or Ghatika (South) or Nadika (West India) or Danda (Orissa/Bengal)

1 Ghati

60 Vighati

D) Mercury – Hora(LMT)

1 Ahoratra

12 Bhava

1 Bhava

2 Hora

Hora lordship and house lordship in individual charts are related. For eg if you

are using Dasa/Tithi pravesh chart etc the houses owned by hora lord become the

prime focus for that duration. Similarly activities started on hora lorded by a

house prospers the house significations depending on the other factors in

chart(natal and muhurtha). Mercury is one of the signifiers of the 10th house.

Yama or Kaala rulers are important for remedial measures. As saturn rules Karma

and Sin. Remedial measures for a planet are most fruitful when done in the Yama

ruled by the planet in the day of it's dispositor. For remedial measures for

Rahu in Gemini, Durga would be worshiped in Rahu kaalam of Wednesday (preferred

night time as Durga is female diety). This information you could also read from

Vedic remedies book.

Warm Regards,

S. Prabhakaran

[sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] Re: Rahu Kalam And Hora Calc. - Reconcile the two

Hare RamA Krsna,Namaste,Dear S. Prabhakaran,Thank you for your response.. I see

the cycle used here. How then do we reconcile Kalam times from Hora times?1. Both

Hora and Kalam times form from sunrise and are the same at sunrise as the Graha

rules the day.2. Yet, that departure happens with the next time...as I am

sureyou are aware e.g. Sunday, Sunrise brings Hora

Sun,Ven,Mer,Mon,Sat,Ju,Mar.... etc.Yet the Cycle for Kalam is different as I

expected.3.So, - the question becomes the following:a. Hora and Kalam are

different and are used for diffent actions. Can you advise on this?b. How

does one reconsile which Graha gets preference for a specfic time? That is,

for Muhurta activites; which to do pick andwhat are the rules?I have explored

Muhurta Chintamani and several other books, yetmost gloss over this area.I

would hope to own and underatand this information...any help from you and the

Gurus will be warmly recieved.Pranams,,
