Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Dear Sanjay, There are two type of Shani. The one who follows the Sun(Yama) and the one that doesn't(Kaala). Calculate the Yamas from Sunrise, and the Kaalas from 6 AM LMT. Best wishesVisti---Bhagavad Purana: http://www.srimadbhagavatam.orgBrihat Parasara Hora Shastra: vedic astrologybphs.zipiTRANS 99 Font: http://www.omkarananda-ashram.org/Sanskrit/Itranslt.html - ">sanjayprabhakaran <sprabhakaran (AT) shreem (DOT) com> Friday, December 27, 2002 5:31 PM [sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] Kaalam Calculations Re: Rahu Kalam Om Shreem Vachaspataye NamahOm Tare Dustare Turye SwahaDear Frank,If I understand your question well Then,You have to use Astadala padma chakra, the 8 petal lotus diagram. also called the Kaalchakra for reckoning Kaala/Yaama rulers.Refer diagramhttp://www.geocities.com/sanjayprabhakaran/8petallotuskalachakra.jpgThe planets are placed in chakra in this order.Rahu Sun Mars Moon Jupiter Saturn Venus MercuryPlanets apposite to each other appose each other and can be used find remedies etc. Like Mercury is against Rahu.To Find Yaama rulers, Each day and night is broken in 8 parts of 1 1/2 hours (3 3/4 Ghatika)(6AM to 6PM, 6PM to 6AM). The first part is ruled by the day ruler itself and then follows in the clockwise direction in above circle. At night(from 6PM) the planet apposite to the weekday begins the cycle.Eg. For Sunday 6AM to 7:30AM Sun7:30AM to 9:00AM Marsandso on4:30PM to 6:00PM Rahunow the apposite planet from sun in chakra is Venus so6:00PM to 7:30PM Venus7:30PM to 9:00PM Saturnand so onPlease note that some also suggest that the Kaalams should be 1. Inequal depending on sunrise/sunset. Sunrise to Sunset divided by 8 parts and similarly for night.2. Mean Time (mean sunrise/sunset which averages to 6:00AM/6:00PM if that place where the Standard time is reckoned from)3. The local Standard Time as shown by the watch (usually the Mean time of a place considered the standard for the whole geographic zone, Like Varanasi/Allahabad Mean time is considered Standard for Whole of India). Due to Effects of Saturn in Kali Yuga 3rd option should be considered generally.Warm Regards,S.
