> The CD Prices cannot be reduced under any circumstances and I request you

to stop making further requests for this. We cannot keep giving everything

free. In fact I have been so upset with all this talk about how to run the

organisation with everyone throwing in his bit without hesitating to think

about what it sounds to another person..so please remember to compare the

prices with that of other organisations like ACVA or BAVA before making

these requests. What SJC is selling for $ 10/- is a CD with 3 HRS material

and others price 90 minutes tapes for that much. It is not fair in our part

to undercut others in this manner, and you are suggesting a price war..if

this is what Jyotish in the net is getting at. It is time I called it a day.

You said "What SJC is selling for $ 10/- is a CD with 3 HRS material". That

is not true. On average, we are charging $10 per ONE HOUR material. There is

a difference here by a factor of three.

Please go to

and check the prices again.

May Jagannatha be with SJC,

Pranaam Sanjay,

You asked me for a comparative table of SJC and ACVA rates below.

The 5-day seminar at Ukiah was priced at $200, i.e. $40 per day. Leaving the

advanced classes, all the CD's of the first 5 days cost 40+45+50+30+30+50 =

$245, i.e. $49 per day.

The ACVA seminar at Calicut was $655 for 5 days (just for classes, excluding the

lodging). It comes down to $131 per day. According to you, their CD price is $45

for 6 hours. You can take it as $45 per day.

Comparison:

Cost (in $ per day) SJC ACVA

Live Seminar 40 131

CD 49 45

Usually CD's cost less than the live seminar, as you can see in the case of ACVA.

The normal audio CD's have 44,100 audio samples per second and 4 bytes of stereo

audio data per sample. In other words, each second of audio will consume 176 KB

on the CD (most CD's these days have 650 MB). If we record a data CD with mp3

files, it will be less than 7 KB per second. It is a very efficient solution.

Mp3 files have pretty good quality and most computers can play them. In USA,

you even get portable MP3 walkmans.

I hope I have answered your questions.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,Narasimha

> Jaya Jagannath> Dear Narasimha> You are right about the time..I thought that

the CDs were for longer> duration. Perhaps we can pack them in some other

format..what do other audio> CDs use? Vaishali was telling that they are very

clear. Can you make a> comparative table of SJC and ACVA rates for CDs &
