I would like to add only one point as I was taught that the duration

of kala may vary

depending upon the time of sunrise and sunset i.e on duration of

sunset. Generally if we assume sunrise at 6 am and sunset at 6 pm

than total day length between sunrise and sunset is 12 hours. so

dividing this by 8 we get 1.5 hours. and so each kala is for 1.5

hours.

But as day length will not be exactly 12 hours ( mostly less than in

India) the kala duration and commencement times will be different in

the sequence discussed.

For example in new delhi on 30 nov 2002 the sunrise is at 6.55 am and

sunset at 5.22 pm so duartion of day 10 hours 27 minutes. so each

kala will be for only 1 hour 28 minutes. so on sunday from 6.55 am

to 8. 23 am will be kala of sun and from instead of 6 to 7.30 am.

This leaves us with one interesting thing about Rahu kalam whic is

avoided for material things will vary from place to place and day

to day. hence standard time generally published may not help.

I request that i may kindly be corrected if my understanding is

incorrect.

Thanking You

and had a great time. Sanjayji taught many basic principles while

discussing some charts. The major points which emerged have been

compiled as we have understood and enclosed here for benefit of all.

Dear Jagmeet, JKDasgupta & Rajesh,

1. The kaalas start from 6.00AM LMT. This is what I have been taught.

2. The Kaala Chakra doesnt include Ketu. The 8 Chara-Kaaraka scheme

is based on the AshtaDala padma which is derived from Kaal Chakra.

3. As far as I know, if planet is in kendra to Lagna, gems can be

used, and if in kendra to Moon then Mantras are prescribed. Trines

are not included.

Warm Regards

Narayan
