Dear Gena,

 

The Sulkanta Margasira Maasa (Varahamihira) which is technically correct

begins on the 20th of December 2002. However, to be on the safe side, I am

covering the entire period of 45 days from the Amanta Margasira

(Yavanacharya) which begins on the 4th december 2002.

 

Su-dasa Vrata

Dec 5 2002: Start Vrata by waking up early at 4 AM, cleaning the house,

making the marks of the footprints of Lakshmi at your door and the marks of

Ganapati at the entrance. Draw seven swastika (straight ones and not reverse

or fallen swatika as Hitler used - be caureful to draw the lines straight

and vertical, horzontal and the L's or angles in the clock-wise direction)

on your cupboard where the money is kept or mear the money box.

Light a lamp pf Ghee and keep a silver coin with lakshmi drawn on it inside

the lamp in the eastern direction.

Recite the prayer (1) once with a flower in your hand as offering, and then

after doing the panchopachar pooja (if you can), recite mantra (2) 108 times

at least or multiples thereof.

Do not apply oil on the head during these thursdays.

Fast till noon and break fast with sweet satwik food only.

 

Days to fast: 5, 12, 19, 26 December 2002 and 2, 9 & 16 January 2003. This

year there are no perfect su-dasa yoga indicating that the financial

position in the world shall be average and the recession maybe ending

only..no major financial upturns. But keeoing these fasts and worshipping

Mahalakshmi will ensure that there will be "NO WINTERS or YAMA troubles" in

the coming year.

should repeat prescribed times one mantra and then prescribed times

second mantra? And also question about month Margasira. Till what day

this month (for doing vrata) continue?
