Guest guest
~OM~ Dear Vishwanadham Veda refers to the four Vedas specifically which are the fountainhead of Sanatana dharma. My recommendation was to read the Rig Veda which is the head of the four vedas. Start with a reading of the translation done by Sri Dayanand Sraswati. You are lucky you haven't touched others else the imagery they create in the mind can totally distort the understanding. Aurobindo's thoughts and understanding is very philosophical and take this up at a later stage. Another thing - remember you can never finish reading this Veda...it has the strange power to be completely comprehensible to whatever person in whatever state of mind and appears in that form as his mind. That is, the interpretation will vary very widely. For example, there are some Rk that I am sure are meant specifically for Jyotish yet others think that this are for other things...strange that the meaning can vary so much based on the viewpoint. I guess that is the speciality of those gayatri's in the Veda. See if you can get a proper Guru for this. It will be better and start on Thursday at Brahma muhurta. May Jagannatha guide you. Gurudev Sanjayji, Pranams. In one of your recent mails, you have suggested reading The Vedas for all the students of Jyotish. I have only read the book 'The Vedas' written by Sri Chabrasekhara Saraswati, which gives a bird's eye view of Vedas, Vedangas, upa vedas & Puranas. That gave me an idea of the vastness of the subject. Could you pls guide me starting when and which shakha I should attempt to study. I am attaching my chart also for your reference. Guest guest
Dear Gurudev, I am thankful to Shri Vishwanadham for asking this question and for your answer.I just did not know where and with which translation to start the study of vedas. Please confirm you are talking about the following translation and website of Sri Dayanand Sraswati. 1)INTRODUCTION TO THE VEDAS. Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati. pap. 2)RIGVEDA, 5 Vols. (In Hindi and Sanskrit). Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati. 3)Notes by Maharishi Dayananda Sarasvati. Tr. into English by Acharya Dharma Deva. 5 vol set. http://www.yrf.org/ I will try to get the translation of Rig Veda by Sri Dayanand Sarswati and start on May 8th,Guru Pushya day and as far getting a proper Guru,I will just go with Lord Krishna. With regards, Jagmeet
