Dear Sunil,

Dear Learned Scholars

Usually a gemstone should touch the finger to give effect, but

recently an astrologer friend of mine said that it is not the case

with daimond, only a gap in the ring should be there so that the

light from the diamond should pass on to the finger, is this true.

ALso regarding Kal Sarpa Dosh, are there lots of types of Kal Sarpa

Dosh, i was only aware that all the planets being on the either side

of Rahu and Ketu means Kal Sarpa Dosh, recently i read that if all

the planets are on one side of Rahu Ketu axis and even if Moon is on

the other side, then still it is Kal Sarpa Dosh

Can anyone clarify.

Thanks

Sunil John

Faceted gems will certainly lend their brilliance and "fire" to itself. The

refraction through which the bearer will benefit from its

radiation/effulgence. Diamond being the hardest gem, should be bezel set (no

need for a gap), so the sharp edges from the girdle will not cut or scratch

you.

Hope this suffices.

Best wishes, Swee

Your friend has tld you the right thing.A stone touching your finger is more

likely to cause injury to your finger. The Ancient texts say"Dhaaranaa"meaning

to wear, and nothing else. With the right Gemstome the effects should manifest

even if worn around the neck.

Kala sarpa yoga arises when all the planets are between Rahu and Ketu.Moon being

out of this axis would not cause Kala sarpa yoga.If you think about the fact

that these Chayagrahas move in retrograde direction, you could read it in two

ways,obviously.

Remember that Varaha Mihira didnot give parameters for this he only considers

the Dasha of the Chayagrahas.

You will find Kala sarpa Yoga in horoscopes of most of the successful people ,

who had to struggle a lot to be where they are now.Pandit nehru's Case is one

in point.

I find that Kal Sarpa yoga gives favourable results belatedly. It does not stop

the results.I think much is made of this Yoga by calling it as Dosha. However

this is my personal view.

Dear Chandrashekhar Sharma,

The Kalasarpa or kalamrita yoga cause delay in the fruictification of

different yogas in the chart, until the maturity age of the nodes come. If

some planet is breaking the yoga, then whenever such events of breaking

happen, the yogas shadowed by the nodes shall flourish. The imp point here

is that, if there are some good yogas such as raj or dhana, then only they

will flourish. Only Kala-sarpa or Kala-amrita yoga won't give favourable

results belatedly. Whatever improvement happens, happens because of the

planets coming out of the clutch of the chaya grahas, but raja yoga is

possible, only if there is one in the horoscope.

Dear Saraijit,

I did not mean that Kalasarpa yoga gives rise to rajyoga. What I had written is

that favourable results are delayed. This is why I had made reference to Pandit

Nehru's horoscope.I have also reffered to the fact that Varaha Mihira had not

considered Rahu & Ketu in predictions but only for Dashas. Please check

horoscopes that you may have for Kalasarpa Yoga with regards to delay in

favourable results and you will surely agree with my views and experience.

The reason I had written in the first place is that now-a-days I find a tendency

amongst astrologers to suggest Narayan Naga Bali at Trimbakeshwara near Nasik

for relief from Kala Sarpa Dosha. Some times kalaSarpa Dosha is not even present

in the Horoscope. Narayan Naga Bali rituals are those of Pinda dana to ancestors

and I do not find any reference to it in ancient Jyotish Literature.

Regards,

Chandrashekhar.

Thanks for the replies.

What remedies are there for Kal Sarpa Dosh, also for wearing Gem stones, each

planet has its mantra which has to be recited many times, to charge it, what

does a westerner do who cannot recite the mantra.

Pls suggest

Rahu and Ketu are two modes of Moon and they are regarded as full-fledged

planets in Astrology. They are considered as most dreaded planets. Rahu is the

Dragon’s head and Ketu as Dragon’s tail. Both of them form a malefic yoga, known

as Kal-Sarp Yoga. In Astrology, this Yoga is supposed to have direct impact on

the following events :

- It causes deterioration of health and reduces longevity.

- It causes imprisonment or serious accident.

- It causes separation, divorce and marital discord.

- It causes poverty and destruction of wealth.

- It causes destruction of business and loss of job.

- It causes destruction of kingdoms and rulers.

- It causes downfall of most powerful persons in politics.

What is the Kalsarpa yoga:

--------------------------

When all the planets are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu i.e., the moon's north

node and the moon's south node Kalsarpa Yoga is formed. Complete kalsarpa yoga

is formed only when half of the chart is unoccupied by planets. Even if one

planet is outside the Rahu Ketu Axis there is no Kalsarpa Yoga. Before you do

any remedies for the Kalsarpa Yoga make sure that all planets are between Rahu

and Ketu.Even if there is one planet outside the Rahu Ketu axis the Kalsarpa

Yoga does not exist. do not confuse Kalsarpa yoga with Nag/Naga Dosha or Karaka

Dosha

Types of Kalsarpa Yoga:

1)Anant Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu is in the 1st House and Ketu in the 7th house and the rest of the

planets are left to this axis the Yoga which arises is the Anant Kalsarpa Yoga.

This is also called as Vipareeta Kalsarpa Yoga(opposite kalsarpa yoga). Though

this yoga has the power to give windfall gains to the native, it is bad for

marital life. Generally natives with this yoga get married late in life .

2)Kulik Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 2nd house and Ketu the 8th house Kulik Kalsarpa Yoga

arises. This combination is bad for health. The probability of losses and

accidents is high with natives of this combination. This is bad for financial

prosperity too. The native is worried on account of an insecure financial

standing.

3)Vasuki Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 3rd house and Ketu the 9th house and the rest of the

planets are located to the left of the Rahu Ketu axis this yoga is born. The

native is burdened with problems relating to job and business.

4)Shankpal Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 4th house and Ketu the 10th this yoga is Formed. The

native gets trouble relating to work sphere and has to go through stress and

anxiety. Sometimes the native has an illegitimate child or can be an

illegitimate child. However this yoga also has the power of conferring high

political success and windfall gains.

5)Padam Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 5th house and Ketu the 11th house this Yoga is formed.

The native is worried on account of children. There is difficulty in getting a

progeny. If the moon is also afflicted then there is the possibility of being

troubled by spirits. In this case if a native falls ill the recovery time is

slow. There are also chances of being let down by friends in this case.

6)Mahapadam Kalsarpa Yoga:

This yoga is formed when rahu is in the 7th house and Ketu is in the 12th house.

The native has many enemies and has problems on account of diseases. However if

this yoga acts beneficially it has the power to confer power and political

success.

7)Takshak Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu is in the 7th house and Ketu in the 1st house this yoga is formed. The

native has got speculative tendencies and can lose wealth by way of wine, women

and gambling. There is marital discord in the life of the native.

8)Karkotak Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 8th house and Ketu the 2nd house this yoga is formed. The

native is short tempered and has many enemies. Such a native has friendship with

the anti social elements. The native does not get paternal wealth.

9)Shankachood Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 9th house and Ketu is in the 3rd house this yoga

operates. Natives who have this yoga in the chart have many ups and down in

life. They have a habit of speaking lies. They are also short tempered.

10)Ghatak Kalsarpa Yoga:

This yoga arises when rahu is in 10th house and ketu in the 4th house.Litigation

problems are common is this case. Punishment by law or the Government also

possible. However if this yoga operates in a beneficial manner then it has the

power to confer the highest form of political power ,special in Virgo and Leo

ascendant.

11)Vishdhar Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 12th house and ketu the 5th house the yoga which arises

is the Vishdhar Kalsarpa Yoga. The native travels frequently and is never fixed

at on place. Problems also arise from children. However these natives get some

peace in the latter half of their life.

The basic condition for the Kalsarpa Yoga is that all planets should be hemmed

between Rahu and Ketu !

12)Sheshnag Kalsarpa Yoga:

When Rahu occupies the 12th house and ketu the 6th house this yoga arises. The

native has problems relating to litigation. There are may enemies and health

problems.

Formation of Kalsarp Yoga :

---------------------------

- All the planets should be within the orbit of Rahu and Ketu.

- Rahu should be at the upper end and ketu at the lower end.

- There is no planet outside the arch.

- That there is no planet conjuncting with Rahu or Ketu.

- That all the seven planets should face Rahu, which is always retrograde.

Impact of Kal-Sarp Yoga :

-------------------------

- Rahu in first house and Ketu in 7th house: Downfall, loss of position and

reputation, mishappening, marital discord,

loss of wife and children.

- Rahu in second house and Ketu in 8th house : Reduction in wealth and health

causes poverty, worries defects in body and lot

of travelling.

- Rahu in 3rd house and Ketu in 9th house : Involved in criminal activities,

unpopular, waste energy and wealth, selfish,

accident prone and paralysis is possible.

- Rahu in 4th house and Ketu in 10th house : Loss of property, disappoint-ment,

loss of job and business, unhappiness,

sarpdosha unhappy and unsettled life.

- Rahu in 5th and Ketu in 11th house : Heavy losses in litigation, failure in

love affair, loss of children and betrayal by

friends.

- Rahu in 6th house and Ketu in 12th house : imprisonment, secret enemies, bad

health and serious sickness and set backs in

married life.

Note : The impact is more severe if Rahu has support of Sun and Saturn.

Duration of Kal-Sarpn Yoga :

----------------------------

- Rahu in 1st house: upto 27 years of age.

- Rahu in 2nd house: upto 33 years of age.

- Rahu in 3rd house: upto 36 years of age.

- Rahu in 4th house: upto 42 years of age.

- Rahu in 5th house: upto 48 years of age.

- Rahu in 6th house: upto 54 years of age.

Notes :

-------

- It causes malefic impact on houses occupied by Rahu and Ketu.

- It causes malefic impact on houses aspected by Rahu and ketu.

- It spoils the benefic planets joining with Rahu and Ketu.

- It causes severe hardship when related with Sun and Saturn or the lords of the

houses occupied by Sun, Saturn,Rahu and

Ketu.

- Its impact will be clearly noticed during periods and interperiods of Rahu and

Ketu.

- Its impact is more severe when Rahu/Ketu are in 1,5 or 9th position from

themselves or Sun, Mars and Saturn.

- Sometimes it pushes a man to great heights.

- Sometimes it gives benefic results, when Rahu/Ketu are aspected by benefic

planets, specially Jupiter or Venus.

- Ketu is always 180 degrees from the longitude of Rahu

- In case Uranus, Neptune or Pluto are outside the arch of Rahu and Ketu, no

Kal-Sarp Yoga is formed.

- Ketu’s aspect is less malefic than Rahu

- Raja Yogas in the chart are more effective than Kal-Sarp Yoga

- This Yoga causes great harm to th4e family, society and nation through the

person who has Kal-Sarp Yoga

- This Yoga plays important role in Mundane Astrology

- Rahu joining ninth Mars in any chart create criminals or suicide or serious

accident or murder

- Rahu and Saturn joining in any house destroy the 7th house, the house opposite

them

- Rahu in transit creating relations with Jupiter or Venus gives benefic results

- Ketu moving over any planet is evil for the significations of the concerned

house

- Rahu and Ketu generally behaves like lord of the sign occupied by them or the

planet conjuncting with them.

- If Ascendant is outside the arch of Kal-Sarp Yoga, the malefic impact is

reduced.

- The dispositors of Rahu and Ketu also play important role in determining the

benefic or malefic impact.

- Rahu in 3rd or 6th house in Aries, Taurus or Cancer sign does not give malefic

results. It is benefic and gives benefic

results.

- Rahu in 10th house or aspecting 10th house and its lord along with Sun and

Saturn destroy the native’s career. In case of

7th house separation and divorce id possible

- Rahu and Mars in 3rd house causes accident and damages to life.

- Rahu + Mars + Sat in ascendant: Dangerous personality.

Dear Chintan,

Thanks for the "doc" which contain a lot of 'new & unknown information about KSY.

What I couldn't 'resist' to observe is that much of the information is 'new' as

it must have been composed after 1927 - otherwise Pluto wouldn't be there ....

(excuse my sting). How on earth did Uranus, Neptune and Pluto(!) come into this

in the first place ??? <smile>

Any idea who is the source ("author") of this document ?

The part of Rahu/Ketu in 1st to 12th (types of KSY) can be found on the net in

various versions, but the rest ?

Kind regards

Jay Weiss

Dear Sunil,

It is said that wearing a ring fitted with Navagraha relieves effects of

KalaSarpa Yoga. You will notice that in all my postings I reffer to Kala Sarpa

Yoga and not Dosha.Lots of postings are appearing about the Yoga on the list ,

most of them protraying megative results of the Yoga and terming it as a

Dosha.I still consider myself to be a sadhaka trying to fathom the vast

knowledge of Astrological classics.Hence I didnot want to put forward my views

on the subject, when so many learned astrologers were opining on this. However

when I find the discussions slipping into directions such as Rahu being only

head and Ketu only body with reference to Astrology(The statement is right for

Mythology); I thought that I should try to put forward my views as a student.

Do not be under the impression that the Sages thought that Rahu and Ketu were

planets. They understood that these are nodal positions and as such termed them

Chayagrahas. They also understood that the positioning of these Chayagrahas

resulted in peculiar alignment of various other Planets. Therefore , in order to

simplify astrology for the sake of those wishing to master this Vedanga, and

knowing full well limitations of the shishyas; they gave various parameters to

these Nodes like their Nature, Rasis and so forth. You must be knowing that

houses owned by them, their Exaltation houses and whether they have aspects or

not ; are the subjects on which even the ancient sages have different

views.Further we should understand that Yogas are enumerated to enable those

who may find it difficult to remember basic principles on which the entire

structure of Vedic Astrology is based. They are more like Empirical formulae. For

example if you can remember the number of degrees per Navamsha and the order of

Navamshas you need not draw a Navamsha chart to find out its results. This is

why I do not like much any Yoga being called a Dosha.Enough of my

philosophising.Let us now see the rationale behind the Kala-Sarpa Yoga.

This is a position where the Grahas and the house they are posited in cannot

receive aspects of Sun, Moon,Venus and Mercury as they have Seventh house

aspect only.If you look at the planets and the factors over which they have

Adhikar; you will realise that they are having ownership of houses representing

the Four steps of Moksha in naisargik Horoscope. All planets also get position in

only one half portion of the horoscope making the horoscope favour certain

tendencies more and as such unbalanced.

You therefore find that those with this yoga are not able to get along well with

some class of people and depending on other factors, are opinionated and feel

that they are not getting their due respect from others. This is probably the

reason for results (favourable) obtaining only after some struggle or some

delay. The charm of acheivement is therefore lost for the Jataka.

Personally I think that the best way to deal with the effects of the yoga is to

understand our weakness and try to overcome them through correct karma. The

legend of Bhaskaracharya , which I had posted in my earlier posting should make

one understand this better.

Please understand that these are my personal views and I beg forgivenness of any

learned astrologer whom I might have offended in the process, in advance.

regards,

Chandrashekhar.

Rahu

and Ketu are two modes of Moon and they are regarded as full-fledged

planets in Astrology. They are considered as most dreaded planets. Rahu is

the Dragon's head and Ketu as Dragon's tail. Both of them form a malefic

yoga, known as Kal-Sarp Yoga. In Astrology, this Yoga is supposed to have

direct impact on the following events :

- It causes deterioration of health and reduces longevity.

- It causes imprisonment or serious accident.

- It causes separation, divorce and marital discord.

- It causes poverty and destruction of wealth.

- It causes destruction of business and loss of job.

- It causes destruction of kingdoms and rulers.

- It causes downfall of most powerful persons in politics.

What is the Kalsarpa yoga:

--------------------------

When all the planets are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu i.e., the moon's

north node and the moon's south node Kalsarpa Yoga is formed. Complete

kalsarpa yoga is formed only when half of the chart is unoccupied by

planets. Even if one planet is outside the Rahu Ketu Axis there is no

Kalsarpa Yoga. Before you do any remedies for the Kalsarpa Yoga make sure

that all planets are between Rahu and Ketu.Even if there is one planet

outside the Rahu Ketu axis the Kalsarpa Yoga does not exist. do not confuse

Kalsarpa yoga with Nag/Naga Dosha or Karaka Dosha

Types of Kalsarpa Yoga:

1)Anant Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu is in the 1st House and Ketu in the 7th house and the rest of

the planets are left to this axis the Yoga which arises is the Anant

Kalsarpa Yoga. This is also called as Vipareeta Kalsarpa Yoga(opposite

kalsarpa yoga). Though this yoga has the power to give windfall gains to

the native, it is bad for marital life. Generally natives with this yoga

get married late in life .

2)Kulik Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 2nd house and Ketu the 8th house Kulik Kalsarpa Yoga

arises. This combination is bad for health. The probability of losses and

accidents is high with natives of this combination. This is bad for

financial prosperity too. The native is worried on account of an insecure

financial standing.

3)Vasuki Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 3rd house and Ketu the 9th house and the rest of the

planets are located to the left of the Rahu Ketu axis this yoga is born.

The native is burdened with problems relating to job and business.

4)Shankpal Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 4th house and Ketu the 10th this yoga is Formed. The

native gets trouble relating to work sphere and has to go through stress

and anxiety. Sometimes the native has an illegitimate child or can be an

illegitimate child. However this yoga also has the power of conferring high

political success and windfall gains.

5)Padam Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 5th house and Ketu the 11th house this Yoga is

formed. The native is worried on account of children. There is difficulty

in getting a progeny. If the moon is also afflicted then there is the

possibility of being troubled by spirits. In this case if a native falls

ill the recovery time is slow. There are also chances of being let down by

friends in this case.

6)Mahapadam Kalsarpa Yoga:

This yoga is formed when rahu is in the 7th house and Ketu is in the 12th

house. The native has many enemies and has problems on account of diseases.

However if this yoga acts beneficially it has the power to confer power and

political success.

7)Takshak Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu is in the 7th house and Ketu in the 1st house this yoga is

formed. The native has got speculative tendencies and can lose wealth by

way of wine, women and gambling. There is marital discord in the life of

the native.

8)Karkotak Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 8th house and Ketu the 2nd house this yoga is

formed. The native is short tempered and has many enemies. Such a native

has friendship with the anti social elements. The native does not get

paternal wealth.

This yoga arises when rahu is in 10th house and ketu in the 4th

house.Litigation problems are common is this case. Punishment by law or the

Government also possible. However if this yoga operates in a beneficial

manner then it has the power to confer the highest form of political power

,special in Virgo and Leo ascendant.

11)Vishdhar Kalsarpa Yoga:

When rahu occupies the 12th house and ketu the 5th house the yoga which

arises is the Vishdhar Kalsarpa Yoga. The native travels frequently and is

never fixed at on place. Problems also arise from children. However these

natives get some peace in the latter half of their life.

The basic condition for the Kalsarpa Yoga is that all planets should be

hemmed between Rahu and Ketu !

12)Sheshnag Kalsarpa Yoga:

When Rahu occupies the 12th house and ketu the 6th house this yoga arises.

The native has problems relating to litigation. There are may enemies and

health problems.

- Rahu in second house and Ketu in 8th house : Reduction in wealth and

health causes poverty, worries defects in body and lot

of travelling.

- Rahu in 3rd house and Ketu in 9th house : Involved in criminal

activities, unpopular, waste energy and wealth, selfish,

accident prone and paralysis is possible.

- Rahu in 4th house and Ketu in 10th house : Loss of property,

disappoint-ment, loss of job and business, unhappiness,

sarpdosha unhappy and unsettled life.

- Rahu in 5th and Ketu in 11th house : Heavy losses in litigation, failure

in love affair, loss of children and betrayal by

friends.

- Rahu in 6th house and Ketu in 12th house : imprisonment, secret enemies,

bad health and serious sickness and set backs in

married life.

Notes :

- Rahu in 10th house or aspecting 10th house and its lord along with Sun

and Saturn destroy the native's career. In case of

7th house separation and divorce id possible

- Rahu and Mars in 3rd house causes accident and damages to life.

- Rahu + Mars + Sat in ascendant: Dangerous personality.

Sarajit:

What chandrashekar probably means is Kala Sarpa Yoga is also known as

Kala Sarpa Dosh(a) - (dosha or dosh means a defect as it really

nullifies almost all the good results of most combinations)(You could

probably compare it as snake and ladder game)

Usually we see that good combinations are termed as yoga- (raja yoga,

maha purusha yoga etc) and malefic combinations are termed as doshas

like Khuja dosha (Mangalik) etc.

This is what I assume from the conversation in the thread so far. If

I am mistaken please excuse me.

the Rahuand Ketu are two modes of Moon and they are

regarded as full-fledgedplanets in Astrology. They are considered as most

dreaded planets. Rahu isthe Dragon's head and Ketu as Dragon's tail. Both of

them form a maleficyoga, known as Kal-Sarp Yoga. In Astrology, this Yoga is

supposed to havedirect impact on the following events :- It causes

deterioration of health and reduces longevity.- It causes imprisonment or

serious accident.- It causes separation, divorce and marital discord.- It

causes poverty and destruction of wealth.- It causes destruction of business

and loss of job.- It causes destruction of kingdoms and rulers.- It causes

downfall of most powerful persons in politics. What is the Kalsarpa

yoga:--------------------------When all the planets are hemmed between Rahu and

Ketu i.e., the moon'snorth node and the moon's south node Kalsarpa Yoga is

formed. Completekalsarpa yoga is formed only when half of the chart is

unoccupied byplanets. Even if one planet is outside the Rahu Ketu Axis there is

noKalsarpa Yoga. Before you do any remedies for the Kalsarpa Yoga make surethat

all planets are between Rahu and Ketu.Even if there is one planetoutside the

Rahu Ketu axis the Kalsarpa Yoga does not exist. do not confuseKalsarpa yoga

with Nag/Naga Dosha or Karaka DoshaTypes of Kalsarpa Yoga:1)Anant Kalsarpa

Yoga:When rahu is in the 1st House and Ketu in the 7th house and the rest ofthe

planets are left to this axis the Yoga which arises is the AnantKalsarpa Yoga.

This is also called as Vipareeta Kalsarpa Yoga(oppositekalsarpa yoga). Though

this yoga has the power to give windfall gains tothe native, it is bad for

marital life. Generally natives with this yogaget married late in life .2)Kulik

Kalsarpa Yoga:When rahu occupies the 2nd house and Ketu the 8th house Kulik

Kalsarpa Yogaarises. This combination is bad for health. The probability of

losses andaccidents is high with natives of this combination. This is bad

forfinancial prosperity too. The native is worried on account of an

insecurefinancial standing.3)Vasuki Kalsarpa Yoga:When rahu occupies the 3rd

house and Ketu the 9th house and the rest of theplanets are located to the left

of the Rahu Ketu axis this yoga is born. The native is burdened with problems

relating to job and business.4)Shankpal Kalsarpa Yoga:When rahu occupies the

4th house and Ketu the 10th this yoga is Formed. Thenative gets trouble

relating to work sphere and has to go through stressand anxiety. Sometimes the

native has an illegitimate child or can be anillegitimate child. However this

yoga also has the power of conferring highpolitical success and windfall

gains.5)Padam Kalsarpa Yoga:When rahu occupies the 5th house and Ketu the 11th

house this Yoga isformed. The native is worried on account of children. There

is difficultyin getting a progeny. If the moon is also afflicted then there is

thepossibility of being troubled by spirits. In this case if a native fallsill

the recovery time is slow. There are also chances of being let down byfriends

in this case.6)Mahapadam Kalsarpa Yoga:This yoga is formed when rahu is in the

7th house and Ketu is in the 12thhouse. The native has many enemies and has

problems on account of diseases. However if this yoga acts beneficially it has

the power to confer power andpolitical success.7)Takshak Kalsarpa Yoga:When

rahu is in the 7th house and Ketu in the 1st house this yoga isformed. The

native has got speculative tendencies and can lose wealth byway of wine, women

and gambling. There is marital discord in the life ofthe native.8)Karkotak

Kalsarpa Yoga:When rahu occupies the 8th house and Ketu the 2nd house this yoga

isformed. The native is short tempered and has many enemies. Such a nativehas

friendship with the anti social elements. The native does not getpaternal

wealth.9)Shankachood Kalsarpa Yoga:When rahu occupies the 9th house and Ketu is

in the 3rd house this yogaoperates. Natives who have this yoga in the chart have

many ups and down inlife. They have a habit of speaking lies. They are also

short tempered.10)Ghatak Kalsarpa Yoga:This yoga arises when rahu is in 10th

house and ketu in the 4thhouse.Litigation problems are common is this case.

Punishment by law or theGovernment also possible. However if this yoga operates

in a beneficialmanner then it has the power to confer the highest form of

political power, special in Virgo and Leo ascendant.11)Vishdhar Kalsarpa

Yoga:When rahu occupies the 12th house and ketu the 5th house the yoga

whicharises is the Vishdhar Kalsarpa Yoga. The native travels frequently and

isnever fixed at on place. Problems also arise from children. However

thesenatives get some peace in the latter half of their life. The basic

condition for the Kalsarpa Yoga is that all planets should behemmed between

Rahu and Ketu !12)Sheshnag Kalsarpa Yoga:When Rahu occupies the 12th house and

ketu the 6th house this yoga arises. The native has problems relating to

litigation. There are may enemies andhealth problems.Formation of Kalsarp Yoga

:---------------------------- All the planets should be within the orbit of

Rahu and Ketu.- Rahu should be at the upper end and ketu at the lower end.-

There is no planet outside the arch.- That there is no planet conjuncting with

Rahu or Ketu.- That all the seven planets should face Rahu, which is always

retrograde.Impact of Kal-Sarp Yoga :-------------------------- Rahu in first

house and Ketu in 7th house: Downfall, loss of position andreputation,

mishappening, marital discord, loss of wife and children.- Rahu in second

house and Ketu in 8th house : Reduction in wealth andhealth causes poverty,

worries defects in body and lot of travelling.- Rahu in 3rd house and Ketu in

9th house : Involved in criminalactivities, unpopular, waste energy and wealth,

selfish, accident prone and paralysis is possible.- Rahu in 4th house and Ketu

in 10th house : Loss of property,disappoint-ment, loss of job and business,

unhappiness, sarpdosha unhappy and unsettled life.- Rahu in 5th and Ketu in

11th house : Heavy losses in litigation, failurein love affair, loss of

children and betrayal by friends.- Rahu in 6th house and Ketu in 12th house :

imprisonment, secret enemies, bad health and serious sickness and set backs in

married life.Note : The impact is more severe if Rahu has support of Sun and

Saturn.Duration of Kal-Sarpn Yoga :----------------------------- Rahu in 1st

house: upto 27 years of age.- Rahu in 2nd house: upto 33 years of age.- Rahu in

3rd house: upto 36 years of age.- Rahu in 4th house: upto 42 years of age.- Rahu

in 5th house: upto 48 years of age.- Rahu in 6th house: upto 54 years of

age.Notes :-------- It causes malefic impact on houses occupied by Rahu and

Ketu.- It causes malefic impact on houses aspected by Rahu and ketu.- It spoils

the benefic planets joining with Rahu and Ketu.- It causes severe hardship when

related with Sun and Saturn or the lordsof the houses occupied by Sun,

Saturn,Rahu and Ketu.- Its impact will be clearly noticed during periods and

interperiods ofRahu and Ketu.- Its impact is more severe when Rahu/Ketu are in

1,5 or 9th position fromthemselves or Sun, Mars and Saturn.- Sometimes it

pushes a man to great heights.- Sometimes it gives benefic results, when

Rahu/Ketu are aspected bybenefic planets, specially Jupiter or Venus.- Ketu is

always 180 degrees from the longitude of Rahu- In case Uranus, Neptune or Pluto

are outside the arch of Rahu and Ketu,no Kal-Sarp Yoga is formed.- Ketu's aspect

is less malefic than Rahu- Raja Yogas in the chart are more effective than

Kal-Sarp Yoga- This Yoga causes great harm to th4e family, society and nation

throughthe person who has Kal-Sarp Yoga- This Yoga plays important role in

Mundane Astrology- Rahu joining ninth Mars in any chart create criminals or

suicide orserious accident or murder- Rahu and Saturn joining in any house

destroy the 7th house, the houseopposite them- Rahu in transit creating

relations with Jupiter or Venus gives beneficresults- Ketu moving over any

planet is evil for the significations of theconcerned house- Rahu and Ketu

generally behaves like lord of the sign occupied by them orthe planet

conjuncting with them.- If Ascendant is outside the arch of Kal-Sarp Yoga, the

malefic impact isreduced.- The dispositors of Rahu and Ketu also play important

role in determiningthe benefic or malefic impact.- Rahu in 3rd or 6th house in

Aries, Taurus or Cancer sign does not givemalefic results. It is benefic and

gives benefic results.- Rahu in 10th house or aspecting 10th house and its

lord along with Sunand Saturn destroy the native's career. In case of 7th

house separation and divorce id possible- Rahu and Mars in 3rd house causes

accident and damages to life.- Rahu + Mars + Sat in ascendant: Dangerous

personality.[Om Kleem Krishnaaya Jagannathaaya namah]Send a blank mailTo

Dear Sarajit,

Dosha conotates some fault arising out of Purva Karma. It is also some times to

mean Shapa(Curse). It is said by the learned that the Horoscope we receive in

this life evolves out of deeds of past life.Now ,as in hindu religon;

emancipation equals Moksha and the very fact of birth in Human or any other

species indicates by long strech of imaginations all yogas , irrespective of

good or bad could be called Doshas.

I know why you have asked the question.Yes a bad yoga could be called as

Dosha. But for the above reason I feel it is wrong to call yogas as

doshas.Another reason that I personally do not like yogas called thus is that

this terminology is used by professional Astrologers to create fear in the mind

of a Jataka. This leads him to seek remedy which the Professional is much too

ready to provide at a steep cost. Of course this is my opinion and everybody is

free to his own interpretation.

Chandrashekhar.

Please

respond to

Dear Sunil,It is said that wearing a ring fitted with

Navagraha relieves effects ofKalaSarpa Yoga. You will notice that in all my

postings I reffer to KalaSarpa Yoga and not Dosha.Lots of postings are

appearing about the Yoga onthe list , most of them protraying megative results

of the Yoga and termingit as a Dosha.I still consider myself to be a sadhaka

trying to fathom thevast knowledge of Astrological classics.Hence I didnot want

to put forwardmy views on the subject, when so many learned astrologers were

opining onthis. However when I find the discussions slipping into directions

such asRahu being only head and Ketu only body with reference to

Astrology(Thestatement is right for Mythology); I thought that I should try to

putforward my views as a student.Do not be under the impression that the Sages

thought that Rahu and Ketuwere planets. They understood that these are nodal

positions and as suchtermed them Chayagrahas. They also understood that the

positioning of theseChayagrahas resulted in peculiar alignment of various

otherPlanets. Therefore , in order to simplify astrology for the sake of

thosewishing to master this Vedanga, and knowing full well limitations of

theshishyas; they gave various parameters to these Nodes like their

Nature,Rasis and so forth. You must be knowing that houses owned by them,

theirExaltation houses and whether they have aspects or not ; are the

subjectson which even the ancient sages have different views.Further we

shouldunderstand that Yogas are enumerated to enable those who may find

itdifficult to remember basic principles on which the entire structure ofVedic

Astrology is based. They are more like Empirical formulae. For exampleif you can

remember the number of degrees per Navamsha and the order ofNavamshas you need

not draw a Navamsha chart to find out its results.Thisis why I do not like much

any Yoga being called a Dosha.Enough of myphilosophising.Let us now see the

rationale behind the Kala-Sarpa Yoga. This is a position where the Grahas and

the house they are posited incannot receive aspects of Sun, Moon,Venus and

Mercury as they have Seventhhouse aspect only.If you look at the planets and

the factors over whichthey have Adhikar; you will realise that they are having

ownership ofhouses representing the Four steps of Moksha in naisargik

Horoscope.Allplanets also get position in only one half portion of the

horoscope makingthe horoscope favour certain tendencies more and as such

unbalanced. You therefore find that those with this yoga are not able to get

along wellwith some class of people and depending on other factors, are

opinionatedand feel that they are not getting their due respect from

others. This isprobably the reason for results (favourable) obtaining only after

somestruggle or some delay. The charm of acheivement is therefore lost for

theJataka.Personally I think that the best way to deal with the effects of the

yogais to understand our weakness and try to overcome them through

correctkarma. The legend of Bhaskaracharya , which I had posted in my

earlierposting should make one understand this better. Please understand that

these are my personal views and I beg forgivennessof any learned astrologer

whom I might have offended in the process,

inadvance.regards,Chandrashekhar.-Sunil
